Believe it or not, both happened to come from Dennis Kroh. I think I got the Finned M91 first. At another time, I got the email right when I was at my computer at work. Saw the 91/38 and jumped on it!

I'm in the same boat... being I have a pre-Custer carbine (high 22,000 serial number). Picked it up so I could shoot Cowboy and blackpowder loads through it.willyj73 wrote:1873 Trapdoor is my oldest. I can't remember the actual year of production.

Re: Show us your oldest firearm you own (not just Mosins!!)
This is the oldest firearm I own to my knowledge. It was made about 1920. My father handed down several weapons to me before he passed. I have tried to date most of them. This is my Model 1897 Winchester Shotgun. It was the last gun I took, and I almost didn't take it, and even tried to trade it for gunsmith work once. Now, its maybe my favorite weapon. I took it to a meat shoot because I had fallen on hard times and sold many of my guns and didn't have another 12 gauge. I won so many rounds with it I got tired of hearing the complaining and left. I also took it to a couple of times to shoot clay birds with friends and I won most of the rounds with it. Its like shooting history. I keep it clean now and I have not bought another shotgun even though things have gotten much better for me. Like I said, maybe my favorite weapon.

Great story tailgunner, and a nice old shotgun. Keep it and pass it on down thru the family.

My French Gastinne Renette 12 gauge double barrel. From the research that I've done, it was made somewhere between 1910 and 1924.
Somewhat old compared to my one Mosin from 1943.

I have one of the same age. Have you gotten the courage to shoot it? I haven't yet.qz2026 wrote:Longcolt44 wrote:My 1891 LOEWE BERLIN GEW 88.Your post reminded me. My Gew88 is my oldest too!

Yes I have shot my 88. I shot it long before I found out that I shouldn't shoot surplus in it. It shot just fine.

Late 15th to early 17th century China used the particular style of gonne (hand cannon). It could be utilized by an individual or in tandem. It's well aged piece of cast iron, and missing its handle. The pole could be braced against the ground or another solid object, or held underarm to absorb recoil. This one could be equipped with eight loads of powder, rocks, ceramic, lead or iron shot. It has eight fuse holes, and could be ignited with flame, coals or slow burning match.

No words of wisdom come to mind at this time....

Let us know how it shoots after you fire that one

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
