1897 German capture M91

Post by mitch5690 »

Been on the look out for an early M91 and this one fit the bill. No sling slots.... Wooden crossbolt. Two Deutsches Reich stamps. Stock and buttplate are original. I helive the body to thr magwell is too. However the gate and the bolt are mismatched.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

What a beauty. I like the wooden crossbolt, the magazine swivel, and the German markings in addition to it being a cool year.

I finally gave up searching for one with a wooden crossbolt, and I have quite a lot of Mosins. My 36 gun safe overflowed long ago and I have stopped active collecting. But I still average one more a year.

Maybe I'll stumble on a wooden crossbolt someday.

Congratulations.

Sometimes long negotiating and patience pays off. It certainly did on this one. What a trophy!
