Sonny I think that direct mount in the first pic was the one too stay with. Those adjustable titanium extra duty sling mounts are the best. I am getting them for all my Mosins/Nagants and Mausers after I weld on carry handles, except for the Finns. Those get the drill and tap treatment and "scout" style mounts with long eye relief scopes and then I'll remove the front sights and tread the barrels for flash suppressors. :vomit3:
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

Well, I took it as a joke. Still, I have seen worst ............ for real! :chuckles:

As fo mine, I know it looks low, but you can not see the front site in the optics. I'm not sure you could even if it is in the way. I don't really know, but you can't see them in mine anyway. I just picked it up and tried it again....nope.

They must have a million way to mount a scope on these things!

I went with this.....removable scope mount that leaves it with just a top rail and rear iron sites. Then I can clamp on a carry handle if I want.

All versions work well it seems.

At least that gives me ideas if I ever get an AR. Does the scope ever require rezeroing after you reinstall it? The thing I love about my AK is that the scope mount attaches to a side rail on it and sits high enough that the shooter can still use the iron sights.

No re-zeroing. Key is to buy a "quality" mount. Not a piece of junk or cheap crap. I can fire "under" the scope. The mount is high enough I can use the iron sights "under" the scope and through the mount. Or, I can pop the two levers and remove the scope completely. Put the mount back on and latch the levers tight and it is back. But you will only get that from a "quality" mount. Don't go cheap ...... unless you are mounting a flash light (which I don't have or use).

Sweet. I wonder about the folks that use lesser mounts. Setup I have has a lighted reticle on top of a high quality combination LED and laser unit. I can use either the reticle or the laser interchangeably which is nice.
