What is the procedure for installing the mount pins for a PU

Post by Nelson84 »

I bought an accumount scope mount and it came with the mount pins. I have an ex sniper I am putting a scope on and I can see that the mount pins came right through on the original scope mount to the inside where the bolt slides. Do you use a slightly smaller drill bit than the pins and hammer in the pins? Do you really need to install the pins or are the screws enough to hold it in place with Loctite?

Nelson,
This is a "preservation" forum for Mosin Nagant Rifles (says that at the top of the forums).

Also you should have read the rules (you had that option when you first joined and still do http://www.russian-mosin-nagant-forum.c ... mrules.php).

From the rules:

Do not ask how to alter a military surplus firearm here.
If you are thinking of altering a military surplus rifle, we don't want to hear about it here. It may be your rifle to do as you wish to it, but this is our house and we don't want them posted here.
No posting of reproduction snipers or re-snipered ex-snipers.
Discussions on reproductions sniper almost always start an argument and negative discussions.
We have chosen to cut off discussion of these rifles.

There are other forums on the internet that discuss re-snipering and making fakes.

This is considered "re-snipering" and the finish product here is considered a "fake" (at worst) or "reproduction" (at best).

The value of the entire rifle is now the cost of all the parts and a M91/30 with holes tapped it. It's value is now worth less because of the holes drilled and tapped into it. So the value of the firearm has dropped.

The rifle is not looked on favorably by "collectors".
