im on board just figuring it out thanks
Re: Time for a review? M39's first....Post Your m39's
For sure my only two M39s can't compete with most of your collections here - either in numbers or in rarity.
My first M39 - a 1943 Sk.Y in correct stock and with a very good, mirror-bright bore. Built on an 1895 Tula-made receiver. Issues are the non-matching magazine floorplate, some minor dings and dents on the left side of the stock and it came with a higher front sight blade installed ("89" instead of the correct "82" as denoted by the stamp on the barrel), which makes it a good shooter at 100 m, but isn't original. Well, hopefully one day I'll find a correct "82" blade...
My second one - a 1967 no maker, also in correct, post-war stock and with a very good, mirror-bright bore, albeit obviously not unissued. Regrettably it came without hang tag and the number on the magazine floorplate isn't matching, too. Didn't find the time so far to check date and manufacturer of the receiver.

Re: Time for a review? M39's first....Post Your m39's
I have four M39's, a 1941 VKT, an unissued Austrian capture 1942 VKT. A gift from the gun shop owner where I work. A 1944 VKT I got in a trade with MILLMAN and a 1944 SAKO.

You may have "only" two, but in the words of Father Guido Sarducci, "They're nothing to sneeza your nose at!"7x57 wrote:For sure my only two M39s can't compete with most of your collections here - either in numbers or in rarity . . .

I really like these M39 rifles. I would sure like to buy one, I live in Canada and there are none up here. But I found a company that has an export permit to ship rifles into Canada from the USA. All I have to do is buy a rifle from one of you americans and the export company will issue a FFL. So if any of you are willing to part with one of these I have cash in hand.

I personally would not enter into a deal like that. No incentive to do it. All of these rifles can be sold here in the USA without any extra steps.Nelson84 wrote:I really like these M39 rifles. “Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
