Classic is profiting from the very panic and desperation that it created while posing as the "folksy" dealer with "gorgeous" rifles at bargain prices. I think that people have behaved very foolishly. They've allowed themselves to be played.
And where did all these rifles go so quickly today? Are you going to tell me that Classic hired a boiler room of service reps just to handle the volume> Nuh uh.
This has had a bad smell from the start, and it hasn't gotten any better.

There has to be some back door dealings, I can't go through the check out links as quick as in the amount of time it's taken to sell off these loads of guns.

Seriously? This has been going on for over a month now. This is the first and most egregious of three.Earl Burlin wrote:Anybody care to post a link of the video? What are you guys even talking about?

Seriously? Yeah seriously. Not all of us are in your little clique.
So I take it you guys don't think these are worth buying? Why?

Take a look at the M39 I bought from them in the first shipment.

Regardless, I just bought a New England Westinghouse SA marked Finnish capture M1891 last night, so my Mosin bucks are spent for this month. Not only that but I also have an M38 coming in the mail! Yeah, I've got the itch pretty bad right now.

They are worth buying, they aren't making any more of them. Most folks are making fun of the hype (there will be no more) and the panic the hype caused (I better buy one before it is too late).Earl Burlin wrote:Seriously? Yeah seriously. Not all of us are in your little clique.

The reason some of us old timers are baffled is that the previous owner of these thousands of guns posted each gun individually with plenty of photos and they sold at the rate of about a dozen a week for the last many years. In effect, the previous seller let you "hand pick" from among a dozen or so each week. (and the ones they were presenting were very nice) So, the marketing got worse and the sales went through the roof. Those of us who have their quota of these fine guns are sitting back watching the fun and munching on pop-corn.
Someone order me a large Coke and some ju jus while you are up.

HI Earl. Opinions on these vary widely and I personally am of the opinion that they are worth buying, and they were priced fairly, as seen in the break neck speed in which they have been selling out. I think the folks with a sour taste in their mouths are concerned with the fact that they were sold very quickly with a large amount of pre-sales publicity and then coupled with the fact that they are not individually pictured. So you don't know what you are getting until it arrives. Any nice M39 for 350-380 plus shipping is worth buying in my opinion.

To bad some of us weren't even a twinkle in an eye when you could "stock up" on a fine collection of rifles for what I've ended up paying for my first two mosins.SA1911a1 wrote:They are worth buying, they aren't making any more of them. I'll have to stick to dealing on a personal level, I get to see what I'm buying, hold it, and maybe even get to PICK between a few. I ordered a hex 91/30 from classic, and while I don't regret it, I'm feeling a little foolish for cracking under the pressure to get a hex, rather than taking the time to beat feet to a gun show and talk with other collectors. My M44 I got at the local show is amazing! And I got it the same day I bought it
Re: Stale popcorn . . . Part III Starts this Monday
This had nothing to do with the rifles and their cost, per se. This is about a carnival side show spectacle staged by a bunch of clowns. I think this was handled in a way that showed callous disrespect for these weapons, their history, and the soldiers who carried them in battle.
I have my rifles, every one of them hand selected by me and treated with respect. If that makes me part of a clique, even if it's a clique of one, then I'm all for it.

I see. What do you mean by "carnival side show staged by a bunch of clowns"?djbuck1 wrote:This had nothing to do with the rifles and their cost, per se. I did notice a big of clumsy handling of the rifles in the unboxing videos, but other than that nothing struck me as particular poor salesmanship.

If what I have already written didn't register, then it would be a waste of my time trying to explain it to you further. Frankly, I suspect you're either a Classic plant, or a troll.Earl Burlin wrote:I see. Re: Stale popcorn . . . Part III Starts this Monday
The hype is a great sales pitch for Classic, every gun forum is discussing this.
The price is a decent deal if you get a nice sound rifle. The problem is you don't know what you will get and after seeing the rifles from the first batch, some were in very crappy condition. Even after paying for hand select people were getting crap. Now Classic did do the right thing and replace those but it should have never came to that.
I fell for some of this hype. SOG listed m39s and I blindly purchased one. I wont be blindly buying one from Classic though.

I bought my first M39 about five years ago, I doubt you are that young.

You call Classic a "carnival side show staged by a bunch of clowns" and then accuse others of trolling? BTW, I'm not a "Classic plant" either.

You two can both take yourselves off.
