Stale popcorn . . . Part III Starts this Monday

Post by djbuck1 »

Part III of the Saga has already started with the release of the third unboxing video a few days ago, which I just now forced myself to watch. :bonk:

Hmmm.

I didn't watch the second vid, but this one was much more restrained than the first. Hell's Belles, how could it be otherwise.

Not every box was opened, the energy level and hyperbole were way down, and there were even a few rifles on this go round with (minor) damage visible. In the middle of the top-layer of rifles in several boxes there was one with a conspicuous post-War stock such as one finds on B barrels and late models. No accident, I'm sure.

It sounds like they're going back to the "hand select" option. I thought they'd learned their lesson . . .

I'm too jaundiced to say much more. The next call-in scramble starts at noon on Monday, October 12. I plan to be at the range.

From what I recall South Carolina had some unfortunate luck with that same idea some years back. He's gone in a year, and will fade into obscurity. Worry more about who the next chief idiot will be.

In his defense I thought he was pretty fairly representing his crates in the 2nd video. He showed some defects and rust on a couple and explained the fact that they would be put aside for a scratch and dent special or something. Come on Djbuck, you know you need a nice new Sako! :P

You bet I do. A straight stock is on its way, and I'm picking up a VKT on Friday . . . but neither come from Classic. None of that nonsense for me. And I'm a damn yankee. I'm not munching wings and sipping suds with that "good ol' boy," so I have no "in," nor am I close enough to haul him into small claims. I'm just seen as another one of the legion of potential gulls and patsies that bunco artists present their "bargains" to.

At this point, I have no sympathy whatsoever for anyone who rolls the dice on Classic's "deal" and craps out.

I'm still trying to sell the pos parts gun I got from the first batch at a loss. I hope they sit on them forever. Too bad they don't have bayonets to sit on.

Page updated on my phone with this thread right after I posted the vid in round 2. There probably some nice rifles in there but I'm not taking the chance again unless I see the one I'm buying. Learned my lesson with round 1.

I have a suspicion that the one I'm going to look at Friday may be one of these re-sells. We'll see what close inspection reveals, but if the stock is reasonably sound and the mechanics are good, it will do as a shooter. In that case, the price (lower than Classic's) is right.

Seriously? If you don't recognize the rifle or the movie, then I'm not sure what you're doing here.

That sir is an M28/30 from the movie Talvisota. Talvisota and Tali ihantala 1944 are 2 of my favorite WW2 movies! :pop:

As for Classic, I would prefer to see a pic of the Mosin I'd be thinking of buying first and then decide to buy or not.

OK, with the closup I see the Hex receiver. It was the helmet that threw me. Not seen the movie but I will . I've bought M-44 molots, Hex 91 30's, a few round ones, a PPs-43 9mm and 3 P-64's from this Co. and pleased with all. I've got no brother thing with chicken wing, He's just a workin stiff. I'm reading the M-39's are pretty well looked over..What am I doing here?.....my wife will only talk about Mosins for about 3 minutes a day....that's why I'm on a forum....If I had crates of them I'd be trying to sell them too, a man can only shoot 15-20 rifles per day, unless your Hickock :brows: . For young guys that have never had a M-39 and are dying to get one, I guess it's as good a deal as you find. If there's a better deal I might buy another, or not, I have a good one. :2cents: SBP

10 mins until the sale starts, for 'scientific purposes' I will be watching the store page and see how fast they sell out.

I was pretty happy with my 91/30 purchase from classic, but this fiasco has me a little put off from making another purchase from them. Not to mention a local at the WAC [Washington Arms Collectors] show seems to have the best rifles I've seen online or off. He also just so happened to have a table full [4-6] of Finnish rifles at the last show. He was selling them for 400, I think thanks to classic. I bet I could talk him down on one of them though!!
