Picked it up a few batches ago from Classic, ordered a Chinese SKS and received a Tula letter gun (win!). She's been sitting in the safe for most of the winter while her Swiss companion goes out to play so I took her to the range today to stretch her legs.

My buddy Tom knocking out a few shots before I take the wheel. We were shooting at an IDPA-sized steel silhouette at 200 yards:

I' have 3 (had 4) Sino Soviet sks's made 1st six months of '56, 1-2 Russian letters and 4-5 numbers, same as yours. The 1st ones they had some left over parts with Tula stars, which yours may be one of those.Or it could be Soviet. I don't know if other markings under the barrel would show which, but both are very good rifles. They shoot better that Norinco's :2cents: SBP

I have never seen a Chinese/Russian SKS. I have seen lots of either though. Tell me more! (Nice rifle BTW)

With a little more education, I believe that one is all Russian. If It's dated before '56, Then it's certainly Russian. Chinese would/should have a triangle 26 stamp....SBP

I know a guy who had a date with a Russian mail order girl. Cost him 7 grand to find out she wasn't there when he went to the airport to meet her.
