Savage 17 HMR bolt.

Post by Tcmosin »

Just picked up a nice little Savage HMR 93R17 Ducks unlimited edition. Was looking for a 22 bolt but found this first. I see a lot of people seem to like the 20 gr bullets over the lighter ones. What distance and grouping do any of you see with this rifle?(real world shooting).

Two years ago a kid in 4-H shot a perfect score with one. I'd call that good enough. We had to change his target every five rounds, as scoring even five got to be tough; we had to acertain that indeed five rounds had gone into that small, ragged hole.

Granted this was at only ten yards, but were were using TQ-3 targets. the x ring is 1/2 inch IIRC. All his rounds were in the xring.

We've never had anyone shoot a perfect score with a .22, though Skipper came close. OTOH, no one has shown up with a Win. 52D and Eley Tenex, either.
