Outside my normal domain. Need your Norinco SKS knowledge.

Post by jaytex1969 »

I normally stick with bolt actions.

I was running errands and hit a favorite pawn shop.

Ended up putting a Norinco SKS on layaway and I barely know what I bought.

Please review the few meager facts we have so far and help me understand what it is and estimate a fair value.

I'm not sure where all the S/N's are but the receiver & stock have a matching 7 digit # (733xxxx) and the same last four digits are on the bolt (carrier), mag/floorplate, trigger guard and rear cover.

Bluing is over 95%. Wood is shiny with a few small dings. It has bayonet, cleaning rod and a sling. There's a small Century import mark on the barrel right side.

Thanks.

Jay

In my area, you can't buy one that nice for less than $325.00 and they probably average closer to $350.00.

In the early 90's these sold for less than a hundred bucks new in the box, I should have bought 50 of them.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

If the bore and the guts of the gun are in good shape, you have a really nice rifle. Lots of expertise here from smarter SKS owners than me, however, I can tell you I have two of these imports from the nineties, and both are some of the best shooting rifles I own.

Nice SKS,

Since it is arsenal 0141 does it also happen to have Chinese characters on the right side on the receiver close to the bolt charging handle,, if so that would make it a Chinese security forces sks ,, importer should be kengs Atlanta Ga. Nice rifle and not many around. Also suppose to be more refined in overall finish and function, the one i have is super accurate and sports a screw in barrel. not a pinned version.

I don't recall characters on the right side, but could have missed them. I do recall a different importer, though. I believe it was a Century import mark.
