The stock has nice color to it, but from your description I don't think I'd call that a good hand select. I'd want a stock with no issues/splices if I chose the hand select option. Since Fins are almost always numbers matching that leaves the stock as the differentiating quality between hand select and non-select. I doubt anyone in the shipping dept. knows enough about these to choose one year over another or what the stamps mean on these.

Got mine today. Metal is good. Stock looks like it bounced across the highway. Pics up soon.

The good news. It has a great bore. But since the bolt is a mismatch I don't know if that is good since I haven't checked the headspace yet.

Advertised as good to very good. I would consider neither being a good description. Bolt is not even a Finn match. All other numbers scrubbed. Some pitting below the wood line. And the stock is the worst looking Finn I have seen. It looks like these things were cobbled together. The sling that came with it looks nothing like my other M39 slings.

Did they advertise them as coming with slings? If they did, I would make a call to them. If not, I would be glad I got a M39 for $350. You can have one of mine for $500, but no sling.

I wouldn't have paid $250 for this one.

In that case you have a beef. Call them and let us know how they handle the situation.

Look for the best of the best to turn up in a year or so from Burns. Say what you will about them, they don't seem dumb. It'll be time to bust out the Visas, boys. :)

I hope folks get their issues resolved, or decent rifles to begin with, but the whole thing is too dodgy for me. Pass.

A Gaylord full of slings is one hell of a lot of slings, I have them full of everything from catalytic converters to copper so I know how much they hold.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Burns was always good about the slings, the rifles I got from them all came with new slings. When I would ask if they had an extra sling they would toss in a used one for free, I outfitted many Finn rifles that way. Rifles that came to me without slings from other sources.

Picked up my 1942 VKT from the FFL today. I was not disappointed. It has a good looking war time stock with the rounded splice fingers, the blue looks pretty complete, bore is nice and shiny, and it has a D marked barrel. I paid the $20 hand select, glad I did. So far I have only had time to slide it out of the box a couple times to look it over, have not found a sling yet but there is a bit more packing paper in the bottom of the box. It will be a few days before I can get around to stripping it down and cleaning. Maybe between now and then I will figure out the email on my phone and I will be able to post a few pictures.

I just checked through my box again and didn't find a sling either. Unfortunate since I went with the hand select feature...
