1943 Izhevsk PU 91/30 "RGUNS"

Post by MeatMarket »

I originally posted a thread for this rifle here: http://www.russian-mosin-nagant-forum.c ... ere+she+is when I received it in fall 2012, and I've decided to repost it for consideration for the showcase. The discussion thread for this submission is posted here: http://www.russian-mosin-nagant-forum.c ... =5&t=25719.

It is a 1943 Izhevsk PU 91/30 imported by RGUNS. The scope was manufactured in 1943 at Plant NKV No.297 Yoshkar-Ola. All serial numbers on the rifle match from it's last refurb. The scope has a small refurb mark on the side and has been serialized to the mount which in turn is serialized to the rifle. An interesting feature I recently noticed was an alignment mark on the scope and rings. A unique bit of information I also recently came across in research was the origin and early production run of the scope. According to this resource: https://snipercollection.wordpress.com/ ... tegorized/; the scope on this rifle was one of the first 3,000 out of over 90,000 made at the plant mentioned above based on the logo, the format of the date and serial number, and the overall shape of the scope.
