wooden Mosin crate project

Post by ditchtiger »

Was given a wooden Mosin crate, empty though. This is what I did with it.
Did not make a coffee table out of it, kind of a shadow box mounted on the wall.

I hope you attached it well, my empty crate by itself is at least 60 pounds, with rifles it's in the 300 range, or more than I care to lift. Interesting idea :vcool: :vcool: :vcool:
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

The brackets are cast aluminum 8"x14" with a steel bar to reinforce the load.
3, 3/8 lag bolts 5" long per side, any longer would have poked out the other side of the wall

That's one way to keep your car from being stolen, well most places anyway, probably not in the Bronx.

Do the crates fit all kinds of mosins, or are there longer crates for M1891s and shorter for the carbines?
Things could be worse. Work to keep from finding out how much worse.

My crate only fits 91/30's. I have tried to reconfigure the spacers and I cant seem to make it work. It might be like the Rubik cube though...I couldnt make that work either! :very mad:

Last time I was at Axis Arms, he had carbine crates. Don't know how much they were. May want to call him and find out.
