I hope this is not too far off topic... this not exactly a firearms question but I did not see a better place to ask...
My son gave me what I think is a "Terek Cossack shashka", a Russian saber. Is he a good son or what!
I think it is that anyway from googling images of Russian sabers. When he gave it to me he said that the bayonet did not fit his 91/30. I was thinking it was for a 91 but when I got it home and tried it on my New England Westinghouse, the muzzle would not fit in the bayonet. I compared it to my 91/30 bayonets and this one is about 3" shorter than those and the muzzle opening is obviously smaller.Do I *NEED* to find a Cossack Mosin to fit this to?
Does anyone know anything about this type of saber and can verify that it is what I think it is? I've not been able to locate much info on it. When it was in production, etc? I hope my attempt at including a couple of poor pics works. I don't know that I have ever attached a picture before. Thanks for your patience!
