Best place to find stock for Tikka M27? Cost?
Best place to find stock for Tikka M27? Cost?
I recently acquired what I believe to be a Tikka M27, by limited research here, a heavy barrel, 2 tapered step downs, slight from the receiver. Bluing is 95%, bore is mint, bright an shiny, square lands, matching numbers on the bolt, barrel and receiver. I hope I am not breaking any rules, but am wanting to put a issue stock, and metal work back on it, as Bubba had placed it in a syn stock, which is a crime in itself, given the condition of the weapon. I know it will never be original, but will look much better to me, and fit in my limited collection better. Any advise on the best place to come up with a stock/hardware, and what I can expect to pay for it is appreciated.

Stepped barrel sound like a tikka m91 from the 1920s.

Gunbroker.com, or eBay would be were I would start looking.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Pictures would tell us exactly what it is, but I think you have ID'd it correctly. JYD's ebay and gunbroker suggestions are gonna be your best bet, although you can also post WTB (want to buy) posts on as many gun forums as you can find, You might get lucky. M27s, while not rare, are not exactly common. Price will be what the seller wants as it is a sellers market on Finn stocks.

I've been looking for an M27 stock set for my M27 for going on three years now. I've only seen two come up on a couple of different forums, and I've always been 30 minutes or so too late to buy one. I ended up putting my M27 in a 91/30 stock set, but I had to hand sand for a few days to get it to fit because the Finn barrel is significantly larger then a 91/30 barrel. I've had an M27 stock searched saved on eBay for two years, and have yet to see one come up.
I won an auction on Proxibid a year and a half ago for what was listed as an M27 stock, but it ended up being an M28-30 stock. The long and short of it is that there's very hard to come by, and are not cheap either. At least with a little time, not much money and some elbow grease you can put one in a 91/30 stock so it doesn't look as bubba'd as it would in a sporter stock.

A post war 28/30 stock will do in a pinch. Many are out there in new unfinished condition. The barrel bands will be tough also. They are on ebay and not the cheapest. I always love a project rifle, but it is sometimes better to wait for a complete model unless it is something super rare.

One little fyi, the number on receiver that matches the barrel was most likely added by the importer to comply with US import laws at the time.
On Facebook? Check out the non-sporter preservationist group at: OOOPS. Deleted by Facebook because it's evil to even discuss collectible firearms on social media these days.

Thanks for all the replies and info guys. I will post up a bunch of places for a stock and just use it as a shooter in the meantime, it has an excellent bore, blueing all around. Someone picked a prime example to make a sporter. Shot some this weekend, sandbagged with some Privi Partisan ammo, 180 gr SP, wouldl shoot a ragged hole at 50 yds, and a 1 1/4 inch groups at 100yds, I am impressed. Cant wait to see what it will do with some handloads, cast bullets also.

Finnish stocks in general are very difficult and might I say spotty to find. I was looking for 3 for about 5 years and suddenly found 4. I don't know how to explain that to be honest? I did a lot of looking and found nothing then suddenly 4 were offered out of the blue after I had basically given up. Never quite figure these things out and no the extra is not available, Sorry!
