Live ammo found on range..

Post by Sonny »

Holy Smokes people..In the last few months I found this at our local range, just laying there on the ground.

We have equipment spreading gravel for our benefit and in winter we have Coachman plowing snow also for our benefit..

Last thing we need is live ammo laying around on the ground..

Please...if you drop it then pick it up ok? Thanks..

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

is that a 33/20 in the lineup or one of the .17 caliber rounds?

What caliber is the bottle neck rimless in the middle?

My last trip to my gunsmith friends farm range I found two 50 cal. rounds laying in the grass beside a shooting bench... I'm thinking those cost a few dollars each.

I find live ammo all the time at the range; usually .22LR or 9mm. I'm guessing people just do a malfunction drill, and don't look for them afterwards.

That's all? I find that much on an average day at our range!

Actually, live ammo going off outside the chamber turns the casing into the projectile. And not much of one either. But still; what a waste.

I found six rounds of live .22lr at the range last week. We'll start the bidding at $1.00…do I hear a dollar …

I found a quart bag of .22 last year, I could probably have sold it and paid off my mortgage at the time. :chuckles:

Found a dummy/training round in 40 Slow and Wobbly today during 4-H Shooting. Orange plactic insert with conical bullet shaperd top, and primer pocket indented. I figured it was used for LEO malfunction drills, as there were lots of the types of targerts LEOs practice with in the garbage can, as well as many 40S&W ammo boxes.

Lats week at our club range a guy and his 2 kids were shootin .22lr and left brass everywhere when they left as we were settin up, while my dad was loading his .44 Rodgers and Spencer pistol he saw some live shells laying about, after we went around cleaning them up we had 15 new .22lr rem shells, so dad inspected them then loaded them into his ruger 10/22 he brought and proceeded to shoot them. we then discussed some peoples range habits and the safety issues, even my 8 year old daughter had a few things to say about it since she helps us police out brass at the end of the day.
