Other guns?

Post by Texas1791 »

If I can't get a Mosan Nagant, what other kinds of cheap rifles are there? Hog Hunting, .270 or bigger.

What do you define as cheap? If you find any good accurate milsurp for under 200 youre doing ok these days.
On Facebook? Check out the non-sporter preservationist group at: OOOPS. Deleted by Facebook because it's evil to even discuss collectible firearms on social media these days.

Ruger American. Best bang for the buck in a hunting rifle. Get 'em at Walmart or anywhere brand new.

What part of Texas? You could even go down to a .223 if you found something that fits the budget.
H&R single shots look like they run about $230 new.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

There seems to be plenty of sporterized .303's around. all I've had were accurate and functional, 10 rd. mags., parts available. Enfields are my second favorite to Mosins. You can get hunting ammo for about 12-13 $ per box.......SBP.....63 MN's

If you want a hog hunter, there's nothing wrong with a Chinese T-53. They can be had fairly cheap and many of them have spectacular bores. Even comes with a self contained pig sticker should you need that :D

Savage Axis. Comes in .270 as well as some other useful hog-hunting calibers.
If you want to stick with milsurps, The Steyr M95 should work, and are still inexpensive, Though the above suggestion of a T53 is valid; double duty with that bayonet!
