the Finns were at the range!!

Post by jimpierce7 »

It was a VKT (and SAKO) kind of morning!! My mind got to running on the way to the range this morning, is it conceivable that these weapons found themselves shooting at both Russians and Nazis?

Even after taking all those pictures of the bolt on my new 1942 VKT M91 to see what folks may have thought, turns out it doesn't matter. It is the shortest trigger of all my Mosins. It is shorter than both pistols too. In fact, it moves and goes boom. Love it!! It looks real good in the Remington stock. I will how ever seek and find one of its own.

It was breezy. Sunny and nice out there.

these were my guns of choice today, 1941 SAKO M39, 1940, '41 and '42 VKT M91s.

I just want to say here and now, I like these guns. I mean, I really REALLY like these guns. A lot.

I started off with my newest addition, 1942 VKT M91. Yeah, I'll get some pics up of it soon. Short trigger. Had to adjust UP one notch for 100 yards.

then it was my next newest, purchased at the same time at a LGS. 1940 VKT M91

Image

then it was one of my favorites from the time I got it, 1941 VKT M91

and lastly was Mr. Spot on. My M39.

I let a young guy have some fun there shooting my M39. He really liked it.

I'm thinking maybe, just maybe, these new glasses make a difference? lol

Nice shooting Jim. I think those groups might have tightened up if you were in Concord.

That's a good bit of work, Jim!
I haven't been able to get out to the range in a long while - I think I am starting to live vicariously through your range reports.
Keep up the good work.

Hello, JIM , "You've come a long way babe". Nice shooting Jim. I always look forward to your range reports also. But, "when" are you going to learn to hang your targets in the correct direction, though???? And mark your targets with the rifle shot with???... Yet, I keep and file mine, that's maybe because I reload. And, it's easier to keep track of rifle(s)/ my performance. Just a habit... (Looks like the specs are doing you right also). It's always nice to see what your shooting at.... BA.

I really get a kick out of being a better shot at 100 yards with an old surplus rifle, than I am at 15 yards with a brand new pistol. My next trip to the range will surely be a bit more humbling. Hopefully it will be the 200 yard range and my high shooters come out to play.

Do you shoot prone or off hand? If off hand, that's some serious shooting!!

I haven't been able to shoot off hand much. As I have a new hip I will be doing that a lot more. This is from a bench. With new glasses. lol Before the glasses I could focus on either the sights, or the target, not both. A week ago I did some off hand shooting while sitting with my '40 VKT and did pretty good. I hope to get so I can do this off hand, then I will be almost as good as a couple friends.............

shooting prone doesn't happen either due to both the hip and the belly............... :chuckles:
