Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: Jungle Carbine:Show'm if you got'm
I have a very light MK5. I have owned it since I was about 15, my first hunting rifle. I removed the stock and put a very nice walnut stock on it and it wore that till maybe 10 years ago when I put the original back on. I pulled it from about 4 fiber barrels of Milsurplus rifles. I thought it looked "cool" and looked the newest of all the "junky rifles". I paid $15 for it I think and I often wonder what else was in those barrels.

I bought this about 2 years ago. She's from 1945 and can spit fireballs with the best of them. It will sure clear an indoor range quick too.

Well I wouldn't mess with you JYD. Due to the size of your collection the US government turned your property into its very own nation! I visit there from time to time... the JYD Museum and resort is quite the place

Never found the recoil of them objectionable. But then again I also shoot a 375 H&H with a 20" barrel quite a bit, along with a Parker Hale Safari Super in 308 Norma Mag too.OLD OUTLAW wrote:And they will knock you on your butt again!Woodbeef wrote:If you guys have'nt already, head over to the surplusrifle forum and add your serial numbers to Tikirocker's list.

Here is another No5 MKI. A rather well used beat up 1946 BSA from the code, bolt matches. Paid a little more than I would have liked too a few years back though had not seen one in a long while and really wanted one to complete the classic Enfield lineup. Only about a quarter million produced from what I read. This rifle is very used compared to a few excellent examples posted already but shoots great, no wondering 0 from what I can tell, anyway's I read the British Military invented that problem in order to speed procurement of the a self loading rifle.

Re: Lee Enfield No5 Mk1's: Show'm if you got'm
Here is a very dark No.5 that spent some time in India as evidenced by the infamous Ishapore screw. I have read that British Armorers also used this screw occasionally but that point always seems to be hotly debated. There is also plenty of green paint coating the metal parts under the wood line. I have read that the green paint was applied as a means of corrosion resistance for rifles destined for humid climate areas. When I bought this rifle it had a head space problem and I would not fire it. Luckily a simple bolt head swap fixed that problem. I've said it before and I'll say it again...those clever Brits! The bolt is non matching and does not have the hole in the knob, it must have been swapped out at some point. This is my favorite of the Lee Enfield rifles to shoot.

Here is my 1 and only. My dad has had this for about 50 years, and recently gave it to me (well, recently as in the last year). It's one of my favorites to shoot. It was produced at Fazakerley in July 1945.
