Re: Finn faker ?
Nothing new here kids, people have been faking antiques for century's, both "improving" them to increase profit, and outright manufacturing them. I could tell you things you would not fuckin believe but if you don't know the tricks already you will not learn them from me. Enough of that information around as it is. When something moves from petty cash to "real" money then forgery becomes profitable for the criminally minded. Look at what happens in the art world. In this case someone with little imagination thought they could buy a metal stamp and make a few extra bucks, so they sell out all collectors everywhere for a few dollars. How many times have we had to tell someone they had a fake PU sniper? That was the start of it because PU snipers were expensive and profit was to be made. Now even the lowest of Finn Mosins is commanding over $250 so the game is afoot. If you stick to the basic infantry rifles and leave the oddball shit alone you should remain unscathed, once you start paying extra for a marking, or stock stamp then the fakers have you in their sights.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

This is the original post about the rifle in question when it was bought by a forum member last year and there's follow ups with links to the gunboards post and the auctions. http://www.russian-mosin-nagant-forum.c ... =5&t=20069steelbuttplate wrote:I can't find the rifle on Gunboards community forum that everybody's talking about., but look on GB at # 474389946.....
