TULA ARSENAL 91/30

Post by JIMPARKS »

Recently acquired a Tula arsenal 91/30, very clean "R Guns" Carpentersville with serial number XE and three digits - have never seen XE before. Anyone know if that is significant? Bolt matches, butt matches and trigger group matches, stock has "2" just above the top screw in the butt plate

I recently posted some pics of my early import Tula 1936. It is an odd mix of Izhevsk and Tula parts. I thought for years, it was mostly original, but I've learned through this Board that it's just a mishmash of parts, no doubt thrown together by Century, the original importer...

That letter is pronounced "ZSCH", a soft Z.

Hope they didn't drill and tap it.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
