Romanian spliced PTG M91

Post by ffeng31 »

Stumbled across this little jewel this morning and snatched it up. It is quite unique. It looks to have been in Romanian hands for a while as evidenced by the stock splice . It has a really cool stock with some neat tiger striping. The jury is still out on the cleaning rod. It screws in snugly and appears to be the right length but I never seen one like it. All in all a neat piece that appears to have had a long history. Your thoughts and opinions are welcomed.

Looks like a Finn cleaning rod. Might have been added after import.

The Romanian splice isn't common. Good acquisition.
No words of wisdom come to mind at this time....

The Romanian spliced stocks are among my favorite. Nice PTG!

I like it! The cleaning rod looks like the ones that are on my M39 and one Finn 91/30 that I came across.

Congratulations. The cleaning rod looks like the one that came with my Finn capture with reblued receiver and bolt.

That's a nice rifle - congrats! Kind of hard to see the head of the cleaning rod, but it looks like a mismatched oddball to me.
Real pretty wood on that one and the splice stands out nicely with the contrasting wood colors, but what's up with the overstamp marks on the Romanov eagles? Kind of looks like they defaced it with a rosette or flower pattern punch. Not too many Mosin Nagant's are decorated with floral patterns. Definitely unique!! :)

Tiger strips and an interesting repair. You struck gold. You should post it in my repairs thread. I'll go bump it right now.
