If we can get away from pills and Doctors long enough to handle the question the guy had about his rifle maybe we can stay on that subject and help him? If you see no movement in the two lines on the front of the sight looking down the barrel (hopefully unloaded) between shots the sight is not moving and you could have as suggested by several of us other problems. As suggested all rifles will change to varying degrees when heated up where they are hitting. This can be influenced by ammo, how the barrel is setting in the stock, how you are being influenced by the recoil and holding the rifle as a result, how you are pulling the trigger, for instance are you jerking the trigger. Try going to the range with an accomplished shooter and having them watch your shooting technique and telling you what they see. Just about 99% of the people I see at the range shooting have a problem in their technique including me. I tend to jerk the trigger at times and flinch badly if the trigger pull is high which many Mosins have a problem with. I am not going to even try and tell you online how to shoot a high powered rifle which the Mosin is for without seeing you shoot I could only guess what the problem is. Check to make sure the sight is actually moving before you shim or try and change the thing. It comes down to the old axiom of if it ain't broke don't try and fix it! Good Luck! Bill

One of the very few perks of owning and putting in the time to administer a board such as this is I get to go off topic if I want, and about pretty much any topic I like. Owners prerogative, it's what I get in place of actual pay. It's cold, miserable, and snowy here, I have nothing better to do just now but drink tea, smoke cigars, and drift around on the board while I slowly freeze to death. My apology's to the original poster if this is a distraction, I do try and keep it at a minimum.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

This morning I awoke to -12 with a 20 MPH wind and another inch of new snow. I am just glad I don't live in Boston! The shop door is frozen shut and I had trouble getting back into the house last night and had to hold onto the door knob for awhile to get it open! I ain't getting the worst of it I know but dang I have had enough already! Bill :o

You live in New York now Bill, that's what I woke up to.

I think what ill do is put some guntite on it when I get to the range and then sight it in. it says it allows the sight to move for 24hrs before it sets. also I know I am not jerking the rifle as mine has a very smooth trigger pull.

I wouldn't put anything on it until I had the problem diagnosed. You might be "fixing" something that's not broken. You're putting the cart before the horse.

I am not "putting the cart before the horse" as I know that the problem is that its lose, I cant knock it out without hurting it and it moves around while shooting. The guntite should fix these problems.

You asked the question. They are just trying to help you. You wouldn't believe the fixes we see for non problems around here. If your sight is loose, the shim option, or just staking it are good fixes. I have no reason to doubt guntite, I've just never heard of it.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

However I'll second (or third) the Elby sight tool suggestion. I picked one up last year and was surprised how much better my groups became once I was not longer trying to guess the windage.
