Yes but the price on that one is even creeping up. It's changed price 3 times in that many days and is now at $443.65/900rds. This is spilling over into M193 and even regular 223. I went through the 223/5.56 list yesterday and updated it. I started with over 400 listings and ended with 248. I'm getting flags for deals already that prices have changed not to lower them. Some vendors are even raising prices on M193 and 223 and they have nothing to do with this. As a matter of fact I suspect that now that companies are losing a large market with the banning of this round they'll be stepping up production of M193 and 223. Makes me shake my head.Junk Yard Dog wrote:just a wee bit less money all right

I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of 5.56 rounds I have fired in the last twenty years. .30 rounds would number in the tens of thousands.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: Import ban! Time to stock up!
That's about how many I've shot in my whole life and that was Fred_G's rifle. I have 2000rds of 223 here at the house. I only got that because so many of my friends were having problems finding it locally and they don't really buy ammo online. I figured what the hell. The price was right and it's good to have. I'll be getting an AR at some point. I did the same thing with 45 acp. I don't have one of those either but planned on getting one some day. I bought a long time before the last election not knowing what was coming and ended up selling it off to friends that got caught with their pants down. Sure made a lot of people happy since they got it at pre-panic prices. That and 22lr too. We're in for a bumpy ride for at least the next two years. Thanks you gun grabbers!Junk Yard Dog wrote:I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of 5.56 rounds I have fired in the last twenty years. .30 rounds would number in the tens of thousands.

The Obama administration and BATFE talk about banning this that and the other, but doesn't congress have to pass a bill to actually make it happen? I recently saw an article saying the BATFE intends to ban the sale of M855 5.56 ammo because civilians shouldn't have steel core "armor piercing" ammo. Fat chance I say.

I'll give up my armor piercing rounds when I let go of my explosive and incendiary rounds.

Obama has perfected the art of " executive privilage ". He doesn't need Congress to pass his agenda.
Re: Import ban! Time to stock up!
well ,lets not start the 'lets stock up attituds please !! " that why everyone still has to have 5000 rounds of 22 ,and it is still going on a year later ,guys having 10000 rounds of 22 ? then gunshow guys wanting 200.00 for 500 rounds oF American Eagle . there is likely more surplus ammo of 7.62x54R around then we could use ,/ive got a lot from years of buying conservatively ,yet not going to go buy 6 crates tomorrow for 900.00 6 spam cans .other nations have it ,Bulgarian is good and quite available .start the buying up and see the drying up and the pricing up REALLY fast ... took quite awhile for things to calm from the last feeding frenzy ..good grief .not again please .

the steel core ammo business was Clintons big claim to fame by the way in the early 90s as we remember ,still a lot of vintage NORINCO in everyones stash floating around ,so we just fight the fight we can win and we will and we are and we will keep on keeping on ...without panic buying ,steel core or not .what are we shooting at GAME AND TARGETS ,NOT A BIG PROBLEM .

The left wants to ban guns. They have failed at Banning certain guns so now they have set their sites in whatever they can get accomplished.
It this ban goes through it will only accomplish one thing, hurting gun owners. It will not save one single person from getting shot.
The thing is, the law states what an armor piercing round is, by that definition, the m855 is not armor piercing. The AFT will eventually get sued, they will spend whatever tax payers money they need to, to do defend their actions.
I just purchased 1K of m855 as a fuck you to the .gov. Every round sat on a shelf or in a warehouse that would have been still sitting there months from now has sold out in a matter of days.

The ban proposal is not just for M855 but SS109 as well.

[Some ammunition that was previously exempted as “primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes,” specifically 5.56mm constituent projectiles of SS109 and M855 cartridges, will again be regulated as “armor piercing ammunition.” Except as provided by law, no person may manufacture or import such ammunition, and manufacturers or importers may not sell or deliver such ammunition."]

They are the same round. The SS109 is simply M855 without the green paint as an identifier. The F1 Australian round is the same thing.Swandriver wrote:The ban proposal is not just for M855 but SS109 as well.

Also, remember he is also the best gun salesman ever!
Re: Import ban! Time to stock up!
The new majority congress could push the issue. They can get together in the big room they are supposed to use to do their jobs, talk about it, and modify the existing law the AFT is using to redefine this ammunition. But they won't. For the same reason they won't bother to pass any legislation on illegal immigration, or a host of other issues. They don't want to run on solved problems during the next election cycle. What if they modified the existing law, democrats voted for it, and Obama signed it. That would suck politically for everyone involved.

Re: Import ban! Time to stock up!
Well I've been watching this unfold over the last few days. The M855 is selling out as soon as most places get it unless the price is astronomical which a lot are now. It's even affected M193 which isn't going anywhere and the price on that is high now too. The M855 round is a neat round but isn't that damn special. I understand people wanting to have some simply because it's going to be gone but M193 is for the most part just as effective and will be here once all this settles down. If you must have some M855 from what I here it's not going to completely disappear because there's still a fair amount in warehouses and once it's to vendors at the price point is going to still be available if for no other reason because it's priced so damn high. Just remember the 5.45x39 7N6 round was banned from importation last year and there's still a shitload of it for sale. It's just priced to high to be practical. This has also spilled over into run of the mill 223, steel cases and brass. My advice is if you need M193 or 223 this too shall pass and wait to buy until this shit settles down. People are acting like all 223/5.56 is being banned for sale and that's not even close to the truth.
Re: Import ban! Time to stock up!
The other thing they can do is stop making "pistols" out of rifles and adding braces to them to get around the SBR tax. Try to make SBRs legal if you want them instead of getting handgun ammo bans on rifle ammo.

Good luck with that. There's idiots out there that simply can't help themselves and will make pistols even when confronted about it. Kind of like the ones we see here that want to sand and cut up collectible firearms. During the 5.45x39 7N6 ban I saw an exchange on Calguns with one of these exact jackwagons that was one of the ones making AK74 pistols and said he frankly didn't give a shit and was going to do it with other firearms. There's some real gems floating around in society.

If they don't listen to reason and are going to do something to harm us all then they need to be taken way back up in the hills and left there.

Seems like the more you tell some people that something is dumb and they shouldn't do it, the more they want to do it, as if you're more right if you're pissing someone off.

Re: Import ban! Time to stock up!
I worry with the BATF running to ban 7n6, M855, all they need to do is find a picture of the Obrez online and think these things are under pillows all over 'Merica. Then, ban our sweet, sweet 54r surplus. We should have done more to stop the 7n6 ban, so we wouldn't have to deal with the M855 upcoming ban, and then have to worry about 54r. Remember, the pyramids of Egypt were built one block at a time. That is how they are disassembling our republic now. My issue is, whenever I sign up for these petitions, and give money to the NRA I get so much spam and begging for more money. I know they need it, but I only have so much. And that has to go toward hoarding bannable ammo to gouge later.
