Your MO Double-Date gun is seeing quite a rise in pricing over the last year or two. Hard to find one under $150, and many are creeping toward $175. At $99, you did absolutely fine!
No words of wisdom come to mind at this time....

This right here!^^

It's not an Ex-sniper, but a Double date MO is a great start, a nice blend of collectability, rarity, and shootability.

And to think, I've been doing this for almost four years now, and I STILL HAVEN'T FOUND A DANG DOUBLE DATED MO.

I'm super jealous, good buy.

Ex-sniper or not... I am still really happy with it and to know more about it is really why I got it. And to think the reason I got this one is because it was the oldest one that was on display. I wonder what else he has. He said he had a lot in the back.

Remember, you don't get to choose the weather in the war. That rifle could have been in Stalingrad or 1 of a 100 colder and wetter places than we ever lived in. Just be sure to clean and oil it after.

That is my outlook on it as well. I just wanted be seeing that it I an older rifle. If it was one of this era, would have done it. No questions asked.

As long as you clean it well afterward it shouldn't be a problem. It was designed to be able to function in mud and snow, so I don't think a little rain will bother it lol.

That is my thinking behind it lol. I mainly asked this cause my friend is threatening to call of shooting cause of rain. I telling him it can take it but he doesn't believe me lol.

I will refuse to let him back out of this. I have been waiting to long lol.

I have shot in the rain, last time I just backed my now wrecked Durango up on the target range, popped open the rear hatch, set the rifle across the rear seat and had at it

That is awesome lol. Though I don't think I can be doing that in my Avenger lol.

Hey, is it the MO that it is double dated or was there something else?

I shoot on my own range, don't try it at a public range, and make sure the hatch pistons are strong enough to keep it up, be embarrassing if it came down while you were shooting. You can shoot in your Avenger, turn it sideways on the range and use the passenger side door as a rifle rest.

See now I didn't think of that. Unfortunatley I would have to go to public range. I live apartment complex. I don't think they will appreciate me shooting around there lol.

Were are you working ? Kabul? We get a lot of that around here also, daddy and uncle get loaded, go outside to shoot the .22 so they can show junior how it's done, put a round through the neighbors car, house, or the neighbor. Couple years back on such a call the idiot make the error of pointing the gun at the responding deputy's, it was his last error, and he is explaining himself to a higher authority. I remember the time I was sick with a bad cold, couldn't be out for long and it was winter but I was going stirr crazy. Took the Ramcharger I had at the time down to the range, opened the hatch, cranked the heat all the way up, and bundled up in surplus army blankets and 40 pounds of clothing I shot for 20 minutes or so then went back to bed happy. Shot the garand with the non corrosive M2 ball that time, I remember catching hell from the Old Man when he heard about it " What are you crazy, you could got pneumonia" at least I would have kicked off while happy

Yeah don't think I would get away with that here lol. I kind of live in a run down area and cops are always patroling through there. Plus I am in a high traffic area lol.

On a side note. At least you tried really hard to stay warm lol.

Doc said I would die if the cold air hit my lungs or some such crap, two weeks in bed watching daytime TV with no cable while coughing my self half to death. Screw him, I was getting out if even for a short time, I wrapped up good, only my eyes could be seen, try shooting a rifle with two scarfs wrapped around your face, it's a challenge. Coughed so hard I almost passed out, but I slept better after that. Made me wonder how they did it in the winter of '44.

Yeah I bet you did kind of get taste of what it is like. I know thst everytime I hold my gun. I try to picture the owner of gun before battle or waiting for the fighting to start. It is cool to think about and kind of eery at the same time.

Ok got a very important question. What is the max time you can go without cleaning without corossive ammo? I shot today and I am not sure if my rounds are corossive or not.

You are already past the max time, clean it now. You can extend the cleaning time for a little bit by boiling up some water, pouring a few cups down the bore and over the bolt head, letting it steam off and then oiling the crap out of the bore. Once the salts are out then you can take your time with the regular cleaning. Never pour boiling water down the chamber and bore and then just leave it. The hot water will strip off any protective oil there may be in there, you must oil it.

I better hope it wasn't corrosive then. I asked them for a certain kind and I thought that is what I got. If not, I now have a nice mantle piece and nothing more.
