Group photo of my Swiss rifles

Post by TheMaineEvent »

I added a Swiss K31 Carbine to my collection this week so I thought I'd take a group photo of my Swiss rifles to have on hand. I'm a fan of rifle stocks that have tiger striping and Swiss rifles often display a subtle tiger striping in their stocks, which is why I bought the three on top. The striping is more prevalent in person than what you can see in the photos, but it is more subtle than say my Finnish M39 rifles.

The carbine (on bottom) I bought because AIM Surplus got in a batch in very good shape, which I would agree. I also got a near mint bayonet to go with it.

FYI-The red dot came with the rifle on top and can be easily removed and does not impact the rifle in any way as it simply replaces the rear sight elevator, which came with the rifle.

Sweet bunch  I like the Swiss rifles. I need a K31 to pair with my K11. I like watching first time shooters of the straight pull bolt, how they hold their face way way back from the action. Even after I try explaining the twist lockup design of the bolt, very few will volunteer to shoot it more than one shot.

They are some real beauties! I see you have a thing for tiger striping  But you haven't had fun till you get a gaggle of them in bed. :chuckles: :brows:

Great rifles, indeed! A nice K31 will be one of my next milsurp purchases for sure - Switzerland is just 100 km away from my home.

If you were going to buy your first Swiss, would you buy the k31, k11, or one of the others to start out? I like the long rifles too.

I'm a fan of the K31's, but you can't go wrong from a collecting or shooting standpoint with a K11. There are more K31's so your ability to "cherry pick" a nice rifle is with those. There have been some nice shipments arriving as of late so you should be able to get a very nice stock with near mint bluing if you do your homework. Swiss rifles can have the butts of the rifles chewed up pretty bad so I'd be on the hunt for a nice stock if it were me.
