Slings came in today!

Post by ranman106 »

Found some slings on eBay so I thought I would order a few. They were shipped from Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, and are very good quality. Here are some pics.

This one looks like it is dated 1938 maybe?

As I was unrolling the sling with the blue rubber band, this fell out. I have no idea what it was used for. Any ideas? I see it as a bonus!

Nice! The star is too small to be for a ushanka so my guess is that it's for the tan foldable side cap/hat. I'm sure someone will be along shortly with a bit more expertise on it.

Item location:

Saint-Petersburg, Russian Federation

Seems the seller has listed the wrong location on eBay. Minor omission as you are not going there to collect it in person.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Had to call my son at college to see if he knew anything about Moldova since he took two units of Russian language and one unit of Russian culture.

If you have a nice clear picture of that pin we could identify better ,I am collector of Russian badges and pins ,mostly authentic original if possible, although due to ORDER OF LENIN costing 1200.00 or better ,a repro will have to due ,id rather have a larger collection of Russian m series rifles and carbines ,instead of 1 very expensive badge . I did get a Chinese original Korean cap sometime back with the red Russian enameled star on it ,pretty cool item .you have to be careful on those most are fake ,real enameled Russian items are deep and dark red with exceptional detail .

I am curious to know how Ballistol works on old leather slings. I have an old dry M39 sling that I am trying it on to find out.

This one of those times where eBay really comes thru. A few years ago I got a real nice PU cover from the Ukraine I think it was. It was very period, if they faked the patina well good on them I was happy and at a great price. Hard to beat Amazon on anything new but when you need an oddball item eBay is the best. I got a TV remote for an old TV real cheap from China nd it was only a few bucks including shipping. Makes me think I need to go check on some things there now.

I have a Finnish sling coming from Finland. Where else could I get a hookup like that except Ebay?
