Carbines like this cause rapid heart beat. I love it. Can we put this one in the showcase? It is a prime example. I vote YES!

We have Martins M38 capture going in there soon. I want to leave room for the nicer ones first!

Martins has the "old style" M38 stock on it. I think towards the end of 39 they started using the next generation stock (like mine) on the M38's. Still older style stock, but not as old as Martin's. Maybe 2 to 4 more generations of stocks follow for the M38's after mine.

I have seen one 1940 with the early style stock, and matching buttplate. But as with all Mosins, there are exceptions.

No need to wait for the showcase to fill up, dolk. Stuff like this belongs there now. And many of your early forum posts have notable specimens as well (hint, hint).
No words of wisdom come to mind at this time....

That is really cool dolk! Out of curiosity, how mixed up are the various parts by manufacturer? Or is it pretty much a straight forward Izshevsk with period correct parts??

And I think this and Martin08's M38 could both go in the showcase, side by side so as to accentuate the variations in the stocks?

It's pretty much matching if I remember right. I'm pretty sure all the parts are original. All the fonts on the ser# are all the same, so I assume it has never been "refurb'd by them.
