Sauger, eh? We have a few of those scattered around the state, mostly closer to TN.
I am catching the Sauger almost in Mississippi,in the tailwaters below Pickwick Dam.

Here's where sauger could be caught in Alabama as of 1996.

Shoot you don't need to do anything except fish in the Big Ditch (Tenn Tom) and catch Crappie!!

We sure are blessed in this area with the big slabs!!

Only fished for crappie once. I'm personally not a fan of sitting on fish, but it was free trip. I'm also not a fan of looking a gift horse in the mouth.

I did catch a 1 and 3/4lb white crappie, though.

Starting a turtle collection?
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

No sir, just an unintended catch. I actually made the trap, but I've never tried it. That's my first ever catch with it. Nearly lost a finger to one of those. He barely missed me.

My little 6 year old niece Emily is absolutely able to melt my heart. Here she is with one of her better catches. A decent little catfish. I call this pic "a tadpole with a catfish". :P

Great pics guys! Never have caught anything big enough to mount. Maybe one day haha. My dad told me yesterday he has worked out a deal to get us a small jon boat though. Nothing big, 12ft, v bottom, with a trolling motor and trailer for $350. My uncle is selling it. While it may not be perfect, its a good start and will get us out on the lake fishing places we couldn't reach from the bank

Thanks. The price was $450 but he took a $100 off for a jet ski trailer as a partial trade. That old thing was free and been sitting growing weeds in my dad backyard haha.

Make sure you get two anchors. Also, make sure they're attached before you deploy them.
Tossed one over the side the other day and only got the rope back. Clip was still attached...

Makes you wonder why you're still moving when you've just deployed an anchor. :chuckles:

Anchors are aalready on the list to buy if there aren't any. We are new to the whole boating thing. My dad has some experience but I have only ever really been on boats a handful of times haha. Going to be fun figuring it all out.

Actually neither, this little redear came from my grandparents' pond. I was quite surprised with it, the size indicates that they're there in numbers substantial enough to sustain a healthy population.

Red… snapper? Nice fish!!!
