Again, another look. I took images of the leaf spring area to provide the forum a better view when I noticed these marks. The "1" has many meanings, but the little "four leaf clover" mark is my question. First - is it a mark or an inadvertent tool strike. If it is a mark, what is it?

I looked through Lapin and Wrobel; no matches.

I have an M91 1924 Tula. It has the same nosecap mark but no cloverleaf stamp on the rear sight.

"Many things about this rifle will be a real reach to ID or classify with so many things being missing when you got it there is precious little there no means something solid to go on. Bill"

True, with the exception that it is a 1924 Tula 5-Line M1891. Where has it been ? Was it used to kill in battle, whom did it save in battle? What battle? When? Why? Where? Who? How --- those are and will be the unanswered questions.

But, isn't that why we collect these gems?

As suggested in another post - I will replace the missing part, feed it an occasional 7.62x54R Soviet meal, and care for it in its old age. And, occasionally, as I sip a vodka, wonder what it would tell us, if it could.
