1895 Winchester Russian Contract 7.62x54r...

Post by Pureform »

Shrunk both pictures 10 times but this post still cuts off the size of the picture not allowing to show the whole rifle...

Disregard the old post when i said i made a mistake on how much i spent winning this rifle...

All I can say is WOWWWW :Drool1: ... This rifle is beautiful and is worth every penny and more and Im very happy I bought this piece... Has the XN3 marking and the upside down U... Also the U on the barrel bands... To show its a russian contract... And of course the winchester rollmarks with the dates and serial number and other stuff and so forth... The metal has a beautiful patina and the action moves smooth like butter... Very strong rifling and no pitting in the bore...
The trigger is amazing and light as a feather...

So how do i take it apart lollll Looks complicated... I dont mind shooting surplus but if i cant take this apart to clean thoroughly than i might have to buy non corrosive...

Here are the pics... Not so great since im using my cell phone and the lighting and color might not be perfect like in person... Enjoy...

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

1) The Winchester looks amazing.
2) Does your wife know you put rifles on the kitchen cabinets?
3) There are several videos on youtube on cleaning the 1895 Winchester, https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... winchester

In all honesty I am too afraid to take this rifle apart and sent it to the local buddy gunsmith I know fro evaluation and cleaning. I do indeed shoot only commercial ammo in mine and very infrequently at that. Still want to sell it I will pay shipping and help you break even!    I would bet your answer is no!!!!!! That is a nice gun and if she works smoothly I will bet she will shoot just great. Again I will tell you, YOU DID GREAT! You are miles ahead of most of us and will now get the fun of shooting that baby too if you care to and I would in a heart beat. Let us know when you shoot her. Mine shoots great through a well used barrel and with commercial ammo will make half decent groups at 100 yards. I mean my Mosins for the most part shoot better but they aren't near the fun as that thing! Congrats I like it! Bill ;mywink; Dang rifle makes me feel like one of my cowboy hero's when I shoot it!!!

I just knew you were going to love this one. I think sometimes when we show our stuff we focus too much on the little things that are wrong instead of all that is right. This rifle was a bargain at the price you paid. A bargain I tell ya. [emoji2]

wow! i would love to have one of those in my collection. i would only shoot non-corrosive modern ammo in it. i would be heart broken if i had missed a small spot and it rusted bad if it was mine.

i still cant find why they ordered these riffles. the mosin nagant was new and these had to be more expensive to produce.

Congratulations on a great looking rifle! I'm jealous, I'd love to have one in my collection but just haven't been able to get past the $$$. One of these days I'll bite the bullet and get one. Until then I'll just have drool over yours!

I have some books on rifle disassembly. I will have to look through them and see if there is any helpful information in them on the 1895.
