AIM PU sniper arrived today - VERY nice!!

Post by 81turbota »

Hey all,
It arrived at my LGS today, and put it in CA 10 day jail. I'm very happy with it.
Here's the details:
-PW arms Tulsky import. Various laser etched tattoos, not as many as Molot.
-Came in a box labeled "91/30 hunting carbine" with a little booklet with proof stampings.
-1944 Izhevsk high wall round receiver, scope number lined out and no new one stamped.
-Wartime PU mount with round edge on forward portion. Electro pencil scope and rifle serial number on mount
-All serial numbers including Cyrillic prefix stamped matching
-All stamped metal parts- bolt parts, magazine, barrel bands(I haven't torn it apart) have Izhevsk triangle, no tula mismatched parts
-Wartime stock, with faint Izhevsk cartouche. The finish is not as shiny as some recent refurbs, and is much smoother. Some minor dents and scratches.
-no slop trigger, similar to an M39.
-1944 Kazan SVT scope, very happy about that. It's a rare scope. Optics are not crystal clear, but very good.
-excellent bore!!! Sharp rifling and no frost. Very shiny.

I'm very happy. Sorry about the poor quality cell phone pictures, I'll take more pictures when it's out of CA 10 day jail.

Congratulations on the PU! That bore looks absolutely amazing and I'm willing to be you'll easily be doing sub MOA at 100 yards with that one. Love the Kazan scope too, I was hoping that I uld have gotten one of those when I got my AIM PU back in July (wound up with a Yoshkar so I'm still not complaining!). The stock looks really good too. Are the cartouches still present on it?

Thanks, I definitely got lucky with this one. I hope it'll shoot as good as it looks. Planning on taking it to the range next Sunday as I pick it up Saturday. I was actually hoping for a Yoshkar, as I thought getting an NKVD or Kazan scope was left field. The cartouche is there, but the details are very faint. If you hold it in the right light you can see a big blob in the middle that has traces of the Izhevsk crest, along with blobs where the CCCP lettering would be.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Very nice, congrats! The bore on that one looks absolutely incredible! I had my AIM PU out to the range this afternoon with Lotema. Some days my PU shoots fantastic & others not so much. Not sure if that is me or the different batches of surplus ammo I have been using. Anyway, congrats on an outstanding example. Be sure to post some pics when you have her cleaned up & a range report as well.

Thanks!

I will post detailed pictures and a range report when I get it back from jail.

I might put this one on a PPU ammo diet like my late M39 gets, we will see.

Hey real nice rifle. I had been studying up on PU Snipers for a while and almost bought one. I know there was a lot of variation and dispute as to the authenticity of a lot of these imports and if I recall AI and Rguns had the best reliability as far as legitimacy. The prices on these have gone down from AIM if I'm not mistaken from $800 to $550, right? If I'm not mistakenabout this are these the same quality of the verified legit rifles that were selling? Oh, I just check RGuns and it looks like they are out. Hmmm . . .

81turbota, I'm here in the SFV. I would love to hear who your PU was shipped to. Are they in southern Ca ? Are they reasonable as far as fees?

Tanks in advance, John.

RenoJames,
RGUNS are the most accepted authentic snipers. There have been multiple batches of imports, sold by AIM, Classic Firearms and others that vary in quality.

These current Tulsky imports (at least mine and others I have seen) are real snipers, with real WWII scopes and mounts. They have been re arsenaled, and none including RGUNS are a straight from WWII time capsule. I am very happy that it has all correct parts and traits, down to the anvil marks on the bent bolt handle.

I should note that I did not receive a lens cap with the AIM sniper. They say nothing in the ad about them being included, so no fault to them. Repros are not very expensive, but authentic ones can get pricey. Something to consider.

I don't think you will be disappointed with a PW Arms Tulsky import, especially at $549 shipped. Many of the RGUNS snipers are being resold for stratospheric prices.

Marko- let us know what you get! The vast majority of these rifles have been excellent.

I ordered mine Wednesday with free shipping from AIM. I have had good luck with aim, and classic. I like mine from royal tiger, but compared to the other two dealers, it was over priced. It was my fault, I took advice from a friend. I don't regret it, but it was more than the other two and about the same quality (nicer post war stock minus the ugly importer marks).

Thanks 81turbota.

I forgot about Royal Tiger. So they seem to be about the same as Classic and AIM, huh? More expensive and less import marks. Good to know - thanks. Just haven't been able to make the purchase yet with all the head spinning info and varying reports.

Royal Tiger Imports is a bit higher because they're one of the importers of these rifles. They're the retail store for IO - Inter Ordnance. They did show a choice for different variations that others vendors didn't offer. Here's a list of who has these for sale at the moment. http://gun-deals.com/index.php?dealtype ... 4&subcat=5

My Royal Tiger Imports PU is a nice example. The scope is dated in the 1960's, but the rifle itself is very nice (all WW2 forced matched parts). The stock has the lighter color. I have one example that I feel is very close, if not real. Dark stock, all matching, the serial # isn't ground off or re-stamped, the scope mount #'s are stamped and not electropenciled (forced). This rifle was not purchased from AIM or RT.

You have a great rifle! I bought one from AIM as soon as the free shipping was sent out. I hope for one just as nice as yours.

Marko,
They haven't shipped it yet? Must be the holidays...AIM is usually very quick.

I ordered mine on a Tuesday, shipped the next day and arrived the following Wednesday.

Yeah, I live out on the West Coast & every time I have ordered from AIM it has taken them about 7-10 days to get the rifle in my hands. They've been running a lot of specials lately so I bet they are swamped with orders.

Turbo, you got a nice rifle again. Have you applied for a C&R license? Would that get these rifles to you without hving to go through a dealer and the 10 day wait?
