The handguard is a huge plus as well.

I think it's only worth that much to the buyer.

Am I the only one that questions the finish on this rifle?

Way overpriced for a refinished Cossack. I thought the starting price was too high. Now if not refinished then maybe but.

Re: $$$ Information $$$ Request
I was wondering about it myself. It seems to be too "nice". Almost looks like a common refurb stock. Also, the finger grooves are rounded just a bit. I know sometimes the Finns sanded, but this doesn't look the same. Just my thoughts. I have been wrong about this stuff before.

Refinished, too bad, someone always has to strip the history off of something.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

It was sanded to the extreme, which turned me away from bidding. Still the price doesn't suprise me

I am going to have to be satisfied with my Finned 1916 dragoon, which doesn't seem to be that much different. Different handguard, no stamp on the sight? What else is different? Oh yeah, historical purpose?

Here is another that went for more than I thought. I was figuring $400 tops.
$700 for a 1934 M27?

Re: $$$ Information $$$ Request
For the most part I recognize very few of the bidders as true Mosin collectors or even handles I know of and this to me says they are just starting to collect Mosins and realizing they have few of them. That can motivate a new collector to pay more than they should for a break-in piece and starting a collection piece. They may run the values up on pieces that many of us older collectors now have or eventually break the bank on them completely only time will tell. I have a couple of M27's of equal or better shape so I am smiling a bit. I too have many questions about the shape the M91 is in and how it got that way and when. I will simply say it is far more than I would have paid for it and think it is worth. Hey it isn't my money so why should I care?

I had considered bidding in that one, but my top bid would have been $300.Lee-online wrote:Here is another that went for more than I thought. I was figuring $400 tops.

I think you guys are right about the M27 to an extent in that it might have been a little high but it isn't a 300-400 rifle either.

Re: $$$ Information $$$ Request
My 1933 "unissued" only cost me $300 last year. I see m27's selling with very few reaching $500. Those that do are the rare ones. This one looked like a clean but, run of the mill m27 to me.bunkysdad wrote:I think you guys are right about the M27 to an extent in that it might have been a little high but it isn't a 300-400 rifle either.
Watching rifles sell on GB can be confusing. This one sold for $700 but I won a m27 for under $300 just a few month ago. Granted it had that nice used look but still a good deal.
