Finn capture Mosin
Finn capture Mosin
Recently purchased a Finn capture Mosin. Been doing a lot of research on the stock markings. Found most of them except a triangle with what appears to be the date of 1940. There are some other either letters or numbers above the 1940 in the triangle, but I cannot quite make them out. It is a 1939 Tula. Thanks.

Re: Finn capture Mosin
Pictures please.... We need Pictures... Isn't it a requirement?
Re: Finn capture Mosin
Yea, I know. Camera hasn't worked in a while and just don't think to replace it. I'll see if I can get some on the wife's cell phone.
Re: Finn capture Mosin
Boy, I sure would like to see that one. Sounds interesting!

Re: Finn capture Mosin
I just can't seem to get good pictures on the cell phone, I will try tomorrow in better light.
The rifle is a Tula 1939. The tang has the Tula star and 39. There is a D stamped on under the star. The boxed SA is on the left side near here the barrel enters the receiver down by the stock. The stock has the Finn piece together (round) at the forend. The butt has the Russian CCCP stamp as well as the triangle stamp I talked about. Again, it appears the date 1940 is on the bottom of the triangle with numbers above that closer to the point. There are other stamps on the stock as well, hard to make out, more like symbols. The barrel serial # and a stamped serial number on the receiver match. The serial number on the receiver has the letters C H L in front of it. The floorplate does not match anything, and there are numbers and symbols all over the bolt, which is a mixture of parts. It is kinda funny, the serial # is: 1546 with those Russian symbols in front, and the serial # on the buttplate is 4615. It is an Ishevek buttplate.
Shot it today and it shoots pretty well.
