Chipmunk 22 Pistol
Chipmunk 22 Pistol
I was on Buds Guns Shop's web site last night and came across this and I find it interesting. This is a 22LF single shot left hand bolt hand gun and under $200. Anyway I plan to see what I can do for a price and I might buy one. Has anyone here had any experience with this one I have shot a couple of their rifles in the past and for the price they make an excellent starter rifle for a child.

Re: Chipmunk 22 Pistol
Looks like a fun gun to shoot. As a fellow lefty? Buy it

Re: Chipmunk 22 Pistol
Actually it is left hand bolt and right hand eject like my Savage Sport Striker. But a lefty may find it more to his liking than some other bolt action pistols out there.

I have one of these located and will probably take a dive at it. $189 isn't bad so I'll be buying a 22LF soon.

Re: Chipmunk 22 Pistol
Burrhead, that looks really cool, but while it had a left side bolt handle, the grip on the stock looks to fit the right hand. I don't think it is a southpaw shooter like it first appears? Think about it. Holding the gun in right hand and cycling the bolt with the left without breaking your grip. Cool, but if it is single shot that would not be a plus. These are cool with a good price too. I think scoped might be the way to go.

Re: Chipmunk 22 Pistol
That's what I was thinking. I'm right handed and shoot pistols with my right hand leaving my left to work the bolt. Wouldn't a left handed shooter shoot a pistol with their left hand? That would mean you'd have to reach over the pistol with your right hand to work the bolt. It's opposite what you'd do with a rifle.bunkysdad wrote:Burrhead, that looks really cool, but while it had a left side bolt handle, the grip on the stock looks to fit the right hand. Cool, but if it is single shot that would make no sense.

That's what I thought.... The bolt is designed to be operated by the NON-Shooting hand. Pretty cool actually. I could play for hours shooting colibri rounds in town.

Be careful shooting those Colibri rounds in the house. Ask Chuck. No.....wait.... those might have been Stingers....whatever. Re: Chipmunk 22 Pistol
You are correct Milman its like my Savage Sport Striker, left hand bolt right hand eject. One of the things that Remington missed in the XP100 Pistols they use to manufacture. I have one located and I plan to order it this weekend. I'll have to wait a week to get it but that isn't a problem for me. I also plan to scope it like my Sport Striker. Here's a picture that shows the Sport Striker which is a 22WMRF caliber.

Re: Chipmunk 22 Pistol
I should have the Chipmunk Pistol next weekend, depending what happens at work ( meaning what days and times I am there). I have worked every weekend this year except when I had vacation days that forced them to let me have it off. It's good "I have $$ for my habit, it's bad no time to enjoy "habit".
I'll post pictures and what all when I get it.

Actually, opposite side bolts are popular amongst sniper types, and makes sense with a bolt pistol, too. Usually the rifles are rested on a bipod or bag; one can work the action without disturbing one's firing grip. goes the same for the pistol.

Re: Chipmunk 22 Pistol
I picked up the pistol today and it is a sweet looking 22. I haven't shot it yet but I'll try and get time tomorrow to try it out at the least. I was surprised to see it's equipped with the Williams Fire Sights, the finish is nice and I I sure like that stock. About the only down side is the grip is designed for the average shooter and I am not that at 6ft 4 in. But the gun should be fairly manageable for me after all its just a 22 single shot. Here's a few pictures of it.

That really does look good. I would have a good time with that one!
Re: Chipmunk 22 Pistol
I took the Chipmunk Pistol to the range and got the sights setup at 30 yards, here's the last target I shot. Not bad for open sights and 63 year old eyes.

I had the Chipmunk back out again and shot it on a 25 yard pistol target at 30 yards. Here is the last target I shot, not bad for 30 yards.
