My Newest M91 Addition...1917 Tula Finned Civil Guard Rifle!

Post by HexEx »

Greetings everyone,

I just wanted to share my newest addition. It's a 1917 Tula M91 that was captured by the Finns. It also bears two Civil Guard district numbers! The guy wanted to sell it cheap because it was missing the rear sight. He was also open to trades, so I offered him a DDR marked 91/30 and some ammo. He took the trade! It wasn't until I got it home that I realized it was Civil Guard marked. It's in a spliced Finnish stock. Surprisingly it had the "D" stamping on the rear sight instead of the barrel shank. What is a gun like this worth? Any idea where I can find the rear sight, sight pin, spring and screw? All in all, I'm excited with my new addition!

Nice rifle, I might have a rear sight for it, at least one off a Russian M91 anyway. No might about it actually, I do have one, but it could take some time to turn it up. I will commence looking tomorrow as I am off to bed now.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

It's a $2-250 gun with the missing rear sight leaf.

Some D stamps do appear on the rear sight base

she is a beauty, gona be fun to shoot once you get that sight back on there.

you suppose someone put one of them scope thingeys on it and lost the sight?

My first Finn that I had no idea was a Finn 91/30 Tikka came to me with a
scope base where the rear sight was. Thank god bubba kept the stock parts.

Very cool find! I would have made the same trade all day long. I just got a thing for M91's. Just wish that I could find more of them locally.

Just missing the sight leaf instead of the whole base and all is minor. They are not hard to find at all. Super score.

Thanks guys! This is my first Civil Guard rifle, and I couldn't be happier with it. Even missing the rear sight, it's still pretty cool. How rare are Civil Guard rifles compared to a regular Finn captured M91?
