Looks pretty good and has a nice smooth action. One issue though is the round will pull back with the bolt but will not extract free with the exception of 2 times and I could not duplicate it. Any fixes?

Very nice, congrats! More pics would be cool. You might have an extractor issue. $15 fix from one of our sponsors or eBay. I checked Liberty Tree but they don't have any in stock.
Re: My Finn is here!
Looks like the receiver and bolt match but the magazine does not.
14106 - Receiver and Bolt
8133 - Magazine
On the stock there were some faint circular markings.Missing the cleaning rod but that was it.
Was also counterbored at one point.

Re: My Finn is here!
Totally normal for a Finn to have only a matching bolt & barrel shank, it's called Finn matched.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Nice 1940 Tikka M91. All I seem to be able to find are 1942s. I have 3 of them.

They must have made a ton of them as I had 6 at one time!!millman wrote:Nice 1940 Tikka M91. All I seem to be able to find are 1942s. I have 3 of them.
Take and remove the extractor from the bolt head and make sure that track it sits in is clean and the extractor is clean too. I do all mine like that now as it seems to avoid the problems you are describing. It is easy to do, just drill a hole in your work bench big enough to allow the extractor to pass through and put a can under there to catch it. With a brass hammer from the front of the bolt head drive it down and off. Takes about five seconds to do and can save a bunch to trouble. I think that crap that lives in there freezes the extractor somewhat and won't allow it to work the way it should. Good Luck and Congrats a great Finn to start with! You know they are only happy in pairs or groups Right?
PS the cartouches look to be the Russian armory and the Deutsches Reich markings

Re: My Finn is here!
Nice tip Bill, now I know what to do with that hole I drilled in my workbench by mistake. Seriously, good idea.

Re: My Finn is here!
Found this proof on both the bolt and sight leaf which indicated pre 28

Also found this proof on the receiver itself

So the Cartouches might help explain that

Re: My Finn is here!
Usually as collectors,we are interested in the barrel mark(the date, the factory it was made at) and any other cool marking on the barrel and on the stock. There will most always be some sort of mix of parts and markings.
You have a 1940 Tikkakoski M91,or Tikka made (the factory that made it) Rifle.
At the right side towards the front between the front sight and the cleaning rod(if you have one) should be a import mark, that will tell you the model of your rifle(M91) and who the importer was.
I Love M91's.
Looks like you have a nice one, look on ytube if you need help on getting your extractor off, sometime they can be a pain.Replace it and go shooting.Oh,and read up on cleaning your rifle after shooting, that is another subject.

Re: My Finn is here!
That is a real looker. You found a nice one. The extractor is easy to bend when you are trying to drive it off the bolt head. If you don't drill a hole in your work bench you can do the same on a small board. I have found some real junk underneath on otherwise spotless cleaned bolts.

Very nice. Congradulations
