Same here LC. A 1943 IZHEVSK 91/30. The bore looks like a new mirror. The rifle and 300 rounds of Bulgarian ammo was 126 bucks including shipping.

Not a very good pic, but a 1939 Izhevsk. Run of the mill Ukranian Refurb, $80 out the door with all the accessories (a bonus, didn't know I got them until I got home and opened the box!) Shot one round through it and both my friends asked if I would take them to get one the next day... 3 years later and I've popped about 30 peoples gun cherries and helped another 10 or so find their first guns.

Here is my first one. I got it a few years back. 1943 M38 Izhevsk, the one Mosin that I will never get rid of, no matter what. I think I've had it for 5 or 6 years and since i got it my mosin collection moved up to 16, with a total of 41 different guns so far. Pretty good considering Im a broke college student.

Very nice "first Mosin" for sure. That is a solid way to start!

Nice M38, M38's have become harder to come by without spending about double or more than what I was paying five years ago, I would not part with any of the ones I have hoarded away :)

My first was a 1942 Izhevek M38. It has a couple of brothers (Mostly 91/30's) and a Finn cousin at present.
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

My first was a 3fer. A Finnish M91, and a couple of T53s.

First Mosin was a 1943 M44, laminated stock. I was searching for information on the web about my Vietnam bringback that turned out to be a T53 chinese rifle, not an M44 Russian(as the paperwork said). The T53 was not in good enough condition to shoot so i bought an M44 from a North Carolina dealer for $85.It's a great shooter but when i found out it was sort of a valued year i bought another one to shoot. Added a few more since then.

This is the one that got me started down that rocky road to Mosin Nagant Hell.

'42 Izhevsk in a '21 Tula receiver. This one was a "grab-bag" from J&G.
Notice the opps moment on the serial number. (musta been a Monday)
