What do you think of these??

Post by 351mustang65 »

https://www.samcoglobal.com/1-swed-M41B.html

I was considering pick one of these up but I have heard a lot of people down talking them saying things like.

They don't have scopes because they are decommissioned snipers that are no longer worthy or accurate enough to be a sniper.

They have had them for a long time and they are now at the bottom of the barrel which is not too pretty.

They are frankenrifles.

They aren't worth the money.

So whats your thoughts?

Was also considering these two fine firearms.

I really hate buying guns online but I can't seem to find stuff like this in my area so that's why i'm trying to get opinions before pulling the trigger.

These are a bit cheaper. http://www.jgsales.com/-p-6346.html

These aren't K98s and aren't cheaper but something you don't see everyday. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx? ... S48CRATE10

I saw the JG Tok but not sure if the condition is on par so I would rather pay the little extra at the chance of getting a better piece. Also they only come with one mag so by the time you add hand select and an extra mag you're pretty well at the same price point.

As for the M48's I would LOVE to have them but I don't need 10 and couldn't swing the price for 10 of them. Group buy anyone?? lol

J&G is nice to work with. The yugos are a nice alternative to the expensive k98s. Samco is also good to work with and the swedes will be very nice.

I just threw those M48s up as kind of as a joke. Didn't figure anyone here would be interested in them but it is a nice bunch of rifles. As for the condition between the Widener's and J&G pistols they both are listed as "Very Good Condition" which is most likely what the importer rated them as and I'll bet they both came from the same importer. As it goes with any online firearm you might get anything from either. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in either description or picture. I've bought 4 rifles from Widener's and ranged from good to poor in regards to the description matching what I actually got. I bought a Yugo M59/66-A1 SKS that the butt plate door was rusted to the point it had to be replaced as well as the spring in the stock for the tool kit. The 24/47 and M48 were both kind of rough and the only one that was decent was the M91/30. Just remember they get huge lots of firearms and they can be all over the condition spectrum. I've never bought a firearm from J&G. They sell a lot of firearms and I don't remember a lot of complaints from them or Widener's for that matter.

You are probably 100% right.

I think I am going to go ahead and buy the Tok and Yugo from J&G tonight and wait on a Swedish Mauser.

I don't know anyone that bought one, but swede mausers as a group over all are in excellent condition compared to most milsurps I've seen. I wouldn't mind having a m41b...

Got the tok and K98 in today. I will post pix after I clean them up.
The tok is a 53. I know the K98 yugo got scrubbed but did they scrub the date code? Is there anyway to date this thing?

I did pay the extra 20 for bore select which was probably a waist but overall I would say so far I am happier with my purchase from J&G then the one I just made from AIM but I guess it's mostly just luck of the draw really.

Everything seems to match other than the hand guard.
It came with the front sight hood which was cool but a stock without a stock disk which really sucked. Is there anyway to date this piece?? I really want to know and I need to date it so I know what cleaning rod to buy.

Stock is a modern one, not original! Also it's a put together many different date parts are on the stock.
To date it: check underside barrel for a number, check the waa-stamps if any remains.

Hope you didn't pay to much, it's propably good as a shooter!

Bought it as a shooter from J&G for $250 not a bad looking old gun for the price but I really do hate the stock and wish I would have got on of the other ones they have instead.

I don't think anything german even slightly remains on this rifle unfortunately and I do believe the Yugos replaced the barrels on these.

I would really just like to know the date of the receiver.

From what i see, i say: 39-41
I've had many yugo with German markings on underside of the barrel.

Well even though I did not notice any Waa stamp under the barrel when I took it apart to clean it you convinced me to look again.

This is all i found. It is behind the rear sight on the underside, right where the barrel meets the receiver.

There are a few more really small/light markings on barrel/rifle that you can't make out.

Well the m41b finally came in today....

The bore doesn't look bad but if I am reading this disc right it's saying the bore was shot out and ready for replacement the last time the arsenal checked it?

Also another thing I found weird was the stock pretty well in perfect shape but it feels and looks unfinished with no gloss and a kind of rough feel. It does have the crown mark on the grip
