Fishing trip today

Post by ponycarman »

My dad and I took our first fishing trip of the year today. Didn't catch much of anything but we had a good time. Today was another one of those frustrating unsuccessful days haha. I think we used every bait and lure in the tackle boxes lol.

Here was the only catch of the day. Complete with cheesy grin.

Still had a good time today relaxing by the lake. Good scenery as well.

Looks like it was a bit humid, I know it was humid here.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

It was a little bit. It had been raining on and off all morning. Nothing really heavy though. Had to pull out the ponchos once haha.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Thanks guys! That little bass kept following one of those rooster tails up to the bank. He would chase it, even bump it sometimes, but not bite. I could see him in the water about 5-6 ft. just swimming around haha. Then I guess he wanted it. I reeled in and there was a fish on it. He was so close to the bank I never even felt anything haha.

Those bluegill are gorgeous millman! I'm glad one of us had some luck yesterday

When you seen him chasing it put on a plastic worm or grub and sink it to the bottom and twitch it and you have caught him 1st cast.

Keep working on your technique.

I did try some small jigs. Still the same effect he would get right over it for a few seconds and then lose interest and leave. Try different types. I was probably using them wrong. Yesterday was my first time using artificial lures of any kind. I'm sure it was something with my technique. I think I was moving and twitching them too much.

I got a curly grub jig assortment from walmart the other day. Something like 180 pieces for 4 bucks on clearance. My dad picked up a tube jig assortment. I hope to try them again until I can get them right and catch stuff haha.

Cool fishing pictures guys. Hopefully I get some serious fishing time in this coming Memorial Day weekend. I scored the three day weekend, so I'm going to try my best to get to the lake or in the water somewhere!

Went fishing again yesterday. We were a little more successful but they still didn't seem to want to bite anything. I caught my first bass on a plastic worm carolina rigged. It was maybe just a little bigger than that last one I caught. We also got 5 blue gill. Good sized too. After a few hours they stopped biting as well.

We watching many large bass swimming around they just wouldn't bite our hooks. We are going to give it another try monday.
