Found a Ruger 10/22 in the scrap metal pile!!

Post by Tennessee_Mosin »

There is gold in the scrap yard--I know it is not to the JYD scrap level but it still is cash for trash.

Here is a little rifle that I got for my 6 year old son a few weeks back.

It is the 10/22 with the Laser/Max sights

I had my old scrap metal pile laying down in the corner of the yard.My wife was sick of looking at it and I made a deal with my 6 year old if he loaded it up and helped me carry it off we would buy him a new gun.We took off 3 truck loads and he worked his tail off.we made more than enough to get the 10/22 and a few other man toys!!

We also got to meet in person and shake the hand of Ruger's CEO Mike Fifer along with purchasing the 10/22

Here is a pic of the rifle like the millions of other Ruger 10/22's that have been sold in the last 50 years but all boys need a 10/22 in the collection.

And a picture of the 1st 5 shots I took with it open sights

All iron or did you have some copper and brass in the mix also? :) Nice deal!
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Every boy needs a .22. Last christmas I gave my grandson, 10, with the permission of his parents, an Ithica falling block .22. On one trip to the club he put 525 rounds of Blazer through it and asked for more. That doesn't sound like much but the Ithica is a single shot.

Good dad right there !! Working for a goal, and accomplishing it. My daughter is that age, and no way would I let her touch a rifle as she is too immature right now.. His first few shots were fantastic !

Mostly iron parts left over from parting out motorcycles on e-bay,one vintage weatherhead that I removed the copper out of it 5 pounds.

And a little aluminium.

10 cents a pound for steel.Copper was like 2.50 and clean aluminum 50 cents a pound

The shots were kind of a team effort I lined him up and let him pull the trigger--he is not ready to handle rifle by himself. He is about a year away.

But if I would let him he would shoot my 91/30 and not blink a eye.

He has his Smith and Wesson M&P airsoft he wears it out,he is learning.

Was he shooting it with the laser? That is a cool little synthetic stock model isn't it? This is such a excellent story.

Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown
