Purchased an SKS

Post by jones0430 »

I have just won an auction on gunbroker for a 1952 Tula arsenal SKS, with what appears to be a solid stock. I am very pleased with this purchase as it is under my top limit budgeted for this. I got it for only $470, plus shipping.

I will post pictures once I receive it.

This makes the seventh caliber ammunition that I need to purchase, including handgun ammo. Isn't 7.62x39 cheaper than 7.62x54R?

Congratulations; I wish I had a Russian SKS. I love shooting the Norinco rifles (2) that I own. The SKS, to me, is as much fun as an AK.

7.62x39 runs about the same as 54r. The cheapest I have seen recently is some Russian ammo for about 21 cents a round at SG Ammo. Get it while you can because who knows about the availability or price in the future.

Please post some pix when you get the rifle.

   The ammo is unlikely to be cheaper.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I've seen 7.62x39 tula or wolf ammo as low as 5.59 per box of 20.

If you want brass case with boxer primers you'll pay 11-12$ a box for it.
So similar to 7.62x54r, but a bit cheaper.

Congrats on the Russian

Best way is to order bulk cases, my last one averaged out to $5.04 per box of 20, thats with shipping of the case added in.

Roughly the same price, a case of x39 1080rds, right at 264 to my door, last case of x54r, 230 shipped for 880rds. Figure with x54r your getting a 120 to 200 rounds less per case. Break it down this way x39 shipped 25.2 cent a round, x54r shipped, 26.1 cent a round.

A bit late, but here are the pics.
All matching serials, though the stock appears to have been forced matched.
