Trust, but verify. Collectors will tell you what is what, dealers will tell you what you want to hear, they have to or starve, always verify.famas44 wrote:I do know classic firearms as a very reputable company.
No they're refurbed M91/30 PU Snipers that came from Molot or one of their partners and are imported by Inter Ordnance from the one's I've seen. What I don't quite get is the link above is for what they claim are "Matching Numbers" rifles which so far all of the Molots have been but they have these for sale http://www.classicfirearms.com/c-r-elig ... -and-mount for $599.99 and they left the "Matching Numbers" part out. They also claim this "This is a new batch of Snipers and supposedly the last that will be coming into the country (per the importer). From what we understand the well has run dry." which I believe has been their claim along with this. "We have seen a lot of Arsenal or post war conversions and these look different. They simply have an air of authenticity." for a long time.jones0430 wrote:They keep emphasizing that they are refurbs. That makes me wonder, are they using that phrase to mean that these are ex-snipers that have been rescoped with war-time PU scopes?
As of yet I haven't seen them do that. You can see by the tongue and cheek comments I made that they are a bit over the top with their descriptions. Here's an example. They had this ammo for sale http://www.classicfirearms.com/ammunition/bul54rst which by the picture is the same Bulgarian 7.62x54R LPS everyone else had for sale but they had in the description that it's "Sniper Grade" and an account of someone they know that shot it with results confirming this. If you look all the way down the page they still have under "Manufacturer's Description" that it's "Sniper Grade" which is incorrect if the ammo in the picture is what they're selling. Since these seem to be Molots or one of their partners chances are pretty high they're like all the others that have come in. What makes me wonder is the higher price for "matching numbers" and the other that doesn't claim that. I believe recently they had a listing that stated something to the effect that some parts might not be matching but I don't see that now. That's something to consider.jones0430 wrote:@ WeldonHunter:
I do not doubt that they are refurb mosins, what I found interesting is the lack of actual verifiable language that indicates these are not re scoped ex-snipers. The wording is just vague enough, and couched so that one may draw inferences. They are legally protected from someone coming back and saying that they sold them under false pretenses, because the wording can be taken as ex-sniper rifles that have been re-scoped, as well as refurbed original configured snipers.

This has popped up a few times as of late. No real reason why they don't and none of them looked scubbed. I would like to point out that all of them so far are the "new" Tula arsenal marked ones. It looks to be a real sniper but again im not really an expert.Rh591 wrote:Hello im new at the Forum sorry about mistakes and my english...
I have this 1943 Izhvesk Pu Sniper ( Molot) and it has no scope number on the left side above the wood and i can not say there was a number... ist it a real sniper ?
Serial on the Reciever is HB521 and when i put the stock off there will be another number looks like 5971
i hope anyone can help me ?

Just received my 2nd for $599.00, whereas I paid $700.00 for the 1st and both are not Molots, but have the Russian safety inspection marks all over these "sporting" rifles. They do not have the Molot model designations imprinted on them. Interestingly the instruction manual came for Russian ser. no. DJ2988 whereas mine is Hr5214. Both of my PU's are 1943 Issys so '43 was a good year for PU production? Pix's this weekend as I've got a pinched nerve and my son had to carry in the crate of ammo.dolk wrote:OK,
This last batch of snipers clearly do not have the Molot name on them anywhere.
They are clearly not handled by Molot.
They are from Russia and not the Ukraine (they have the Russian marks that are required in Russia)
They are real sniper rifle parts and real snipers refurbished more closely to the RGUNS snipers (from the Ukraine) then the Molot snipers.
But they have not been manipulated like the Molot rifles have been.
