Target was from the 54. The 50 was up next but i only got it close with a new load before my son showed up to camp to fine tune it. Both were set for 100ish yards but i practiced 80 and 90 yrd shots. Camp was in the trees behind the truck / firing range.

Wow those are great pictures. You sure have some beautiful country there. I can easily see why you would never want to part from bp hunting. I didn't realize you had all those bp firearms. Whose Remington Buntline revolver is that? That has to be a fun one right there. :P

The Remington is just a regular 7 or 8 inch barrel or what ever they are. The other is the colt reproduction. I bought the 1858 first and then got the top strap because of the ease of cleaning but the old colt type shoots sooo much better. I think they are pietas but cant remember. There is a lyman 54 plains rifle. It was a kit. Deadly accurate but shoots a ball only because of rifling but still a killer. Then the other hawkin is a 50 caliber traditions kit. Shoots good now that I changed it to musket caps. Have hunted with every one of the rifles except the little CVA but my son used it a lot. The little 50 caliber pistols are just plain fun. They are accurate, more accurate then the 44s
I have only seen like one person in the mountains when black powder hunting. It is a miracle to see people. Not the same as modern. Lucky to not get shot then. The lyman rifle was by far the most expensive rifle I have for bp. Over 300 bucks. The others were all around 150 or less and the pistols all were under 100. We cant use scopes for BP here which is kind of nice as I have a bunch of milsurps that way...

Love the pictures Brad and the rifles and had guns are sweet too. I noticed the wood stocks look like they're laminated. Very nice set up while camping and with your son makes it even better.

I run 90 grains of loose pyrodex under a 240 grain saboted XTP hollow point in my Wolf Magnum. Potent deer load out to 200 yards.
