Nice, you can see how the finish quality had fallen off by 1944-45, gone is the Beretta deep blue, the high polish , but I bet the functionality remains just fine.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Yep, I took it and the cz27 out today. The balance is exquisite. It takes down in 20 seconds, Hell, the barrel pops out with no tools, without removing the slide!

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
The commerce which maybe carried on with the people inhabiting the line you will pursue renders a knowledge of these people important ~Thomas Jefferson~ (to- Lewis and Clark)
That 4UT is a German contract is true. My former neighbor was a WW II veteran and he showed me a Beretta 4UT and holster that he took from a German soldier when my former neighbor was in Northern Italy in (I think) late 1944. The Germans were in caves in the mountains. He even had pictures of himself with the Beretta and pictures of the captured German soldiers. He also took a Browning Hi-Power from another German soldier and had pictures of himself holding the Browning.
