1937 Remington mod. 341 22 rifle.

Post by redspoon »

Seen a couple of these being shown and talked about here lately, so thought I'd post up mine. These were produced from 1936 to 1940, kind of an uncommon tube fed bolt action. Holds 15 long rifle cartridges, it has a neat little elevator system that lifts the round up from the tube and feeds the chamber. For a 77 year old rifle, the system still operates flawlessly. The two letters where the shank meets the receiver designate the month and year made. Mine has a PF which according to the chart I found is June of 1937.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

That is a nice looking Rem. I like when they look used, not abused. I see your rifle has a regular rear sight,
Mine has a Marbels rear sight. I ain't real fond of the buckhorn sights.

Very nice.... there is also a 341P model with peep sights. While not very elaborate as far as peeps go.... they are effective. Been a while since I shot mine.

I like it. Red, these are so much fun. I have often thought how cool it would be to buy a Mossberg 44US heavy barrel or any number of other similar heavy barrel rifles, but honestly, this is the one I love to shoot. I have 2, but one is missing a entire bolt.

I passed on a bolt a couple years ago that went for 90.00. I thought I'd wait and find one cheaper. It takes some luck to find one at all, and they are never that cheap any more when I do find one.
