Jackson, I hope you don't mind, but your photo sort of inspired me. And another member mentioned Enya too recently. I have always wanted to play with Movie Maker...so why not blend your photo and Enya into a video? :)

My first (and most likely last) video:

Another time, another place. Special thanks to "Jackson" from the russian-mosin-nagant.com forum for the ending photo that inspired this video! Thanks guys. It was fun to make...tedious, but fun.

I think that photo is worth at least 5,000 words. The "outside world" may never know what we're all talking about here...but once you own, hold and fire a true military surplus rifle, you sense you are holding history in your hands. When I saw Jackson's photo, I saw an over-whelming number of troops coming up the hill, through the mist. And I saw a young soldier holding steady...scared out of his mind, but brave and ready always.

Very nice. It gave my arms goose bumps as it was escalating about a quarter of the way in.
Cool.

Not a bad effort at movie making :) The weapons that we collect have seen some of the darkest moments in human history, I have said that if history had actual weight these rifles would crash through the table and probably the floor under it by the sheer weight of that history. The weapons in my collection can take me many places, With the Palls Battalions at the Somme in 1916, A death camp in Germany 1945, a jungle in Cambodia , a desperate fight for some nameless piece of ground during the Indian Wars, The muse Argonne 1918, The snow of Finland, the 'canal in 1942, the San Juan Heights July 1898. The places are endless, and for most of what we collect we will never know exactly what they have seen, only that they were there, the relics of history.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
