Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I`m anew member. Names Jim. I have a question right off the bat. I just bought my Chinese M53. I did a thorough scrubbing of everything. Tore it completely down. Not a lick of resin left!
The bolt WILL NOT close with a round in the chamber. No burrs in the chamber. I read it could be the head space. Good info, but HOW DO I FIX IT??

Welcome Jim. Go here viewforum.php?f=5 and click the "New Topic" button and make a post about it. You'll get more responses there and more help. This is just where we say hi so more users will see your post there. Ultimately you may need to check headspace and the guages can be purchased here http://www.okiegauges.com/sales.html It should be checked anyway but you may need to get the GO gauge which is one we don't usually use. We usually use the Field and No-Go but it sounds like you either have an obstuction in the chamber, a dirty chamber or incorrect minimum headspace which the Go gauge checks. First things first though. Lets see what the users suggest.JimboSkoal01 wrote:I`m anew member. Names Jim. I have a question right off the bat. I just bought my Chinese M53. Not sure where to post this...
Sorry in advance that I am not sure where exactly to post this...
Just a quick question...
I have a Mosin Nagant M44 that was missing the front sight when I received it.
Will a 91/30 front sight fit it? Or is there a specific front sight for the M44?
Thanks, Henry

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
Hello all. Just collected my second Mosin yesterday, a 38 Izhevsk. It's beautifully refurbished from the arsenal and the finish is in good shape! I joined this forum because I'm heartbroken to say that I scratched the stock while re-installing one of the barrel bands last night. It's about a inch and a half long and sticks out really bad since the rest of the rifle is in such good shape.
I'm hoping to snap some pictures this weekend and upload them on Monday to get some advice. I'm all about leaving everything 100% original and preserving the history. It's killing me looking at the scratch and don't know whether to leave it alone or try the alcohol trick or what. I won't do anything hasty, that's why I'm here.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

What year is your M44? Welcome to the board, M44's do use their own front sight, but we need the year to try and ID it.henryctx wrote:Sorry in advance that I am not sure where exactly to post this...
