We heard a story about the C shaped symbol being something that was seen in Serbia from an Ex-marine who served there. Whether I believe that or not is fast becoming doubtful but I will pass it on with reservations. Many marks on refurbs will like as not never be known and I think if we really did find them out they would be of little consequence or value to us. Bill
I have a 1934 Tula with those marks stamped on the right side of the receiver looking down from above. These are almost hidden by the stock. By using a really powerful magnifier, I found the "C" is really a "C" with a dot in the center of the arc and the other an "M" with a line through it. There are two other symbols, one looks like a roman numeral "III" and the other is a box with a smaller box inside of the larger box. I have had no luck in finding out what these symbols mean.
