Russian and Ukranian Ammunition Supply
Re: Russian and Ukranian Ammunition Supply
I think I have enough surplus to last the rest of my life, with some left over to go to the grandkids with the guns.

Re: Russian and Ukranian Ammunition Supply
In my case that's not difficult, I'm all f***'d up, arthritis in my hands, back problems, knee problems, vision sucks, my days of shooting 80-120 rounds a day are over. Now I shoot light loads or my many .22's, the ammo I have will last me my lifetime.paul6892 wrote:What I hear you saying is, buy it now and keep it and don't shoot it all down Range![]()
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: Russian and Ukranian Ammunition Supply
I share it from time to time with my pistol shooter friends when we do a shoot up north a few times a year. They don't use much as their delicate shoulders can't handle a mans weapons for long. Oh, ouch, that hurt,

If I don't shoot it all before I die, I'm taking it with me. You never know where you will end up.

Re: Russian and Ukranian Ammunition Supply
Like JYD said. Surplus ammo is not forever. Look at the 7.62x25. It was 10 cents a round. Now its 40 or more. Look at the value of the guns that shoot it, also. A cz52 used to bring $300-$350 when the ammo was cheap. Good luck getting that kind of money for one now. A l Iong term/permanent ammo shortage will ultimately bring down the value of all guns, no matter what the cause of the shortage. And dont rely on reloading. Lead bans and component availability will take care of that.

Thanks for the second Heads up, you warned us beforeOLD OUTLAW wrote:Don't know how many of you are watching this Ukraine/Russian problem going on. But if Europe and the US do put an economic embargo on Russia and a separate Worldwide Arms Ban on Russia, look out. You can bet your bippy that all this cheap import ammo will be gone as soon as the pipeline empties.
If this, and I am betting it will happen, you will not be able to buy the stuff cheap for your Mosins, SKS, and AK rifles.
Even when things settle down, I will bet you that our .Gov will not again allow the import of all that ammo for out guns.
It will become another Gun Control method.
You all need to think about this. Because Walmart will not be able to help you guys. Buy by the case now and quickly I suggest. I talked to two Distributors of ammo from there today. At this time the Ukrainian Arsenal does not answer a telephone or a fax. The plant is on the Eastern Border with Russia. Right on it it appears. Population there is mostly Russian.
It is suspected the Russians may already have taken it.
Think what you may, but think hard about cheap ammo now today.

Re: Russian and Ukranian Ammunition Supply
They can ban lead all they like, but after 500+ years of lead use in this country lead is around to be repurposed into bullets, and will be for lifetimes yet to come. Plumbing, roofing, automotive, electrical, sash weights, diving weights, ballast in boats, you name it and lead is there. Invest in some bullet molds.fintowin wrote:Like JYD said. Re: Russian and Ukranian Ammunition Supply
If they cut the supply to the US of Russian ammo it will sure help drive down the price for us here in Canada, when they stopped the supply of SKS's, SVT-40's, Norinco M14's and Steel cored 7.62x39mm ammo to the states the price of them dropped to almost half what we were paying and stayed that way as our importers did not have to compete against US importers which only pushed up the price. We still can buy brand new, never fired Chinese Military SKS's (not civilian market ones) for $75, unfired and re-furbed as new Russian SKS's for $169, Refurbed SVT-40's for under $300, 2014 manufactured Norinco M14's for $429 and 1970's made Russian and Chinese military 7.62x39mm steel cored ammo for about $200 a case of 1440.
